Lucky Cuisine | 吉祥川味馆 — Restaurant in Petaling Jaya

Mr & Mrs Liu from Szechuan, China, have been operating this restaurant for the last sixteen years. The fact that the restaurant is still standing after all these years and with so many Szechuan restaurants having mushroomed in town, can only mean that it has a loyal following among Szechuan cuisine lovers.

The restaurant ambience is conducive - decor and vibe are traditional Chinese.

Ordered three dishes:

1. Fried lamb with cumin @ RM45
2. Sour and spicy shredded potatoes @ RM22
3. Hot and sour kelp silk (cold dish) @ RM18

Service was fast and all three dishes met my expectations in terms of taste and flavours. Certainly appetising. As authentic Szechuan as can be for they are every bit like the other Szechuan restaurants that I've eaten.

Husband-and-wife team adopts a hands-on approach to running the business. Both are on hand to attend to customers. Friendly and service-oriented couple.

The restaurant occupies two floors with the upper level converted into private dining rooms.

Parking can be challenging unless you don't mind double parking or parking along yellow lines (traffic enforcement quite active, mind you).

Toilet Score: Needs improvement.

Rarely complain about China restaurants but this will be the first. Their food is nice actually, toward extreme taste but once every 2 months I feel it is ok. Jan to May 2022, visited them at least 4 times. Unfortunately, whatever can happen, will happen.

We ordered 3 dishes, the lady boss wrongly ordered an extra dish, talked nicely to her, she raised her voice and said "4 peoples 3 dishes enough a?" Repeat twice in a higher tone. Ok fine... We just take it as I dont want to argue anything as this is the very first time I bring my parents for China food.

What makes me feel disgusting is, when we just finish the 4th dishes and start enjoying the tea, she asked the helpers to clean my tables, not 1 but 2 helpers, kind of forcing us to leave the table immediately. Hello, I paid for my tea ok?

From my 4 stars, now I rate 1 star for their food. 3? U embrassed not only me but my parents! This is not forgiven. Thanks but no thanks. No...

We love the food here, especially my elderly parents in their 80s. However, the lady boss is very rude and loud when she took our order. We frequent this place almost every week, and we always order the same dishes. The lady boss will talk very loudly and say 'Not enough food for you all, need to order more'. I will tell her, I always order the same quantity and you didn't say not enough. There's a plum juice that comes in a jug, we ordered that upon her recommendation but the taste was awful. Lady boss should exercise more diplomacy when she takes orders and not badger her customers into ordering more food. Apparently, she did this to other tables too. I will stand my ground and not give in to her harassment but I noticed some other tables will give in to avoid embarrassment. Also, there were times when only 1 dish will be served out of the total ordered and we had to wait approximately 30 minutes before the rest trickled out...
