This things happened like this:

It was 3rd Jan 2022. I went to this sushi mentai outlet to have my dinner during CNY. When I reached and so many ppl waiting outside and holding a number tag to be called. I get one of the number tag (No.19). Before me there’s another 3 number which is 13,15 and 17. Their stuff told me they will press the number and showed it on a little screen when it’s our turn with a double confirm with them. So I told the stuff there that I’ll wait inside my car because my car just parked infront of the store. They told me “ok boss no problem!!”

So due to the SOP and pandemic reason, I decided to wait inside my car to avoid the crowd (some typical uncle is opening their mask and smoking while waiting), and I parked my car right INFRONT of their store so I don’t think I will missed the number on the screen. So I waited in my car from 8:30pm until 9:30pm and all the waiting list customer had all went in to have their dinner. I’m feeling curious why the screen didn’t showed up No.19, in a meanwhile their stuff suddenly turn the “welcome” sign on the glass door become “closed”. I’m feeling strange and doesn’t right. So I went down and ask the stuff with holding the No.19 number tag.

I asked: why close? I have a number tag and the screen never showed up No.19 yet.

The stuff(with a very bad attitude): sir please go out, we are close. 10 minutes ago already last call.

I asked: but you told me you’ll press and showed No.19 on the screen but it didn’t showed up at all.

The stuff keep telling me: sir we are CLOSE! And I just “call” your number. You didn’t showed up.

I asked again: when didn’t you called my number and you told me that you’ll press the number and SHOWED UP ON THE SCREEN?! I even DOUBLE CONFIRM with your stuff that the number will be SHOWED on the screen!

The stuff replied: Sir we already CLOSE. (Never try to admit that she never press the number and also keeping avoiding the question).

This case end up they didn’t press the number and keeping saying it’s not their fault.

Disappointing Experience at Sushi Mentai Kota Damansara ！！

I was genuinely looking forward to a simple sushi meal, but unfortunately, my experience at Sushi Mentai Kota Damansara was quite disappointing.

Firstly, the service was extremely slow. Despite the restaurant not being particularly busy, we had to wait a long time just to get seated and even longer for someone to take our order. Some staff seemed disinterested and unapproachable, which made the entire dining experience feel uncomfortable.

Secondly, the food quality was below expectations. The sushi rice was dry and hard, and the seafood didn’t taste fresh. A few plates even came out lukewarm as if they had been sitting out for too long. We also noticed that the portion sizes were smaller than what we’ve had at other Sushi Mentai branches.

Cleanliness was another issue — the table was sticky when we sat down, and some plates had leftover residue on them, which was very off-putting.

Overall, this outlet seriously needs improvement in both service and food quality. With so many better sushi options in the area, I doubt I’ll be returning to this branch...

My family visited sushi mentai 4 times in 2 weeks time, which sounds so so crazy. That much my husband and my little son loves their food. In particular, my husband's favorite is arguably their toro salmon, the salmon belly here, which is cut in 5 thick slices. Plus, loving the way sashimi cuts put on a lettuce in ice filled plate. On our first time, we had it rm1.8 for 20 plates and rm2.8 for 20 over plares5, 3 times Toro sashimi, rolled maki, grilled fish, and lots of cook food etc. No doubt the total price sum up around rm190. My son loves to tower the cover of the yellow and red plates, so seemed we consumed way way too much. But then we visited on and on. Again the price at mentai is fairly reasoable for the quality you are having,...that's what matters. Some of my favorite are easily unagi sushi(red plate), seaweed topped sushi(yellow plate) and edamame! Of course, according to my husband, the toro salmon is so so good here! 🍣👍 The salmon skin fried maki and unagi maki are ok, but pls don't over drizzle the soy sauce all over. Other than that, its...
