The Chicken Rice Shop @ 1Utama — Restaurant in Petaling Jaya

We're regulars at this branch and come very often as admittedly, The Chicken Rice Shop is our favorite but unfortunately at this branch our experience was not very good.

We came on a Wednesday evening and it wasn't super busy, customers are sat down and there were many empty tables.

Visibly they have 3 staff going in and out of their kitchen - 2 were serving food and 1 attended to cashier, so they were low on staff. We can accept this.

However, even with low staff

1. Most tables were left uncleaned - at least 50% of the tables in the store had previous customers' plates left
2. no one was free to let us know where to seat ourselves but when we sat at a random table that was uncleaned and called for help to clear the tables, we got scolded by a lady working there, something along the lines of "why don't sit somewhere else, there are other places to sit". When in the first place they didn't even acknowledge us raising our hands. Were they planning on leaving the plates there? They could've have just told us to wait for a bit.

Mind you if you wanted us to sit somewhere else, can ask properly. Why did they even put our table number on the QR code to order if you were gonna complain about us sitting there?

It takes 5-8 mins at least to clean up what we had on the table or even lesser to come by and say "we'll be right back" but no acknowledgement and we even got scolded for something as simple as sitting anywhere.

Very, very poor management and even poorer attitude from this one staff that wasn't very professional in a setting dealing with customers. Something very unfortunate to have to experience when going to a place we frequent.

I am very disappointed at my recent visit to Imago shopping centre branch. I was looking for chicken rice specifically and I knew this chain from my last visit to Kuala Lumpur.

When we came in there was a sign that stated for us to wait, and a member of staff will seat us.

No one came to do that, no one greeted us and we had to navigate our own way.

Then specifically one lady was very rude. She had come to the table to deliver food but spilled sauce over my partner's shoes and even had her hand in our food.

There was no apology, not even a napkin to help. There was a terribly sour look on her face and no acknowledgement of us as the customers what so ever. Not even a nod when we said thank you in appreciation of delivering our food.

I don't believe I will be coming back to dine with The Chicken Rice Shop and I will not be recommending it to any of my family or friends to visit when coming to Kota Kinabalu.

The service I received previously in Kuala Lumpur was acceptable, but this particular shop in Imago shopping centre in Kota Kinabalu has shown me the worst customer service by far in the whole...

Staff n Manager Rude

My recent takeaway experience at The Chicken Rice Shop Restaurant 1 utama branch was unfortunately marred by a long wait (25 minutes - not peak hour) which they only served the food on the dine in customer and let the take away customer waiting.

During the wait, I approached the staff to inquire about the status of my order. Two staff members, Ali and the Manager Hisyam, were particularly dismissive and unhelpful. They both just walked away while i was talking to them and sarcastically replied that my food was "on its way."

Thankfully, two other staff members, Helmi and another Manager Ezza, stepped in and helped to resolve the situation. They apologized for the delay.

Despite the initial unpleasantness, I have to commend Helmi and Ezze for their professionalism and empathy. They turned what could have been a frustrating experience into a tolerable one.

Overall, I would not recommend the takeaway service at The chicken rice shop 1 utama. The long wait times and rude staff were...
