Black Vinegar White Kolo Mee + Cheng = RM13.00
Besides Sarawak Laksa, Kolo Mee has got to be the Next Most Famous Sarawak Dish that Most People would be familiar with. This is my Actual 1st Authentic Sarawak Kolo Mee and I've read that apparently Kim Joo makes a Good Bowl of it.
Indeed they do, and I can honestly say this hands down beats ANY Kolo Mee i've ever eaten outside of Sarawak. NOW I understand why Kolo Mee is so highly regarded by Sarawakians.
Kolo Mee itself looks Very Plain and Simple. The Noodles feel like a Slight Variation of Maggie Mee but The Magic really comes together when you mix the Sauce and Noodles together.
This is definitely a Dish that you cannot judge by Appearance alone. They say the Most Difficult Dish to make is one that looks the Most Ordinary but with an Extraordinary Taste and THIS DISH absolutely embodies this Philosophy.
The Soul of the Dish is really the Sauce. It has a Subtle Nice Salty and Savoury Flavour which pairs Beautifully with the Lovely Al-Dente Kolo Mee making this a Winning Combination. There is a very Subtle Taste of Black Vinegar within and it does not try to upstage and overpower everything. It fits in just right. Just this Bowl of Kolo Mee alone by itself is already Fantastic!
"Cheng" in this case refers to a Side of Pork Soup which has Generous Servings of Various Pork Parts. While it isn't Overly Porky, it does have a Noticeable Taugeh Taste. The Soup is also abit Oily but in a Good Way and is very Warm and Comforting. Pairing this to eat with the Already Excellent Kolo Mee is Perfect!
The Chilli provided is Very Sourish and tastes almost like Thai Vinegarish Prik Nam Som. It's Bitingly Spicy Good, but the Noodles are already Good without it.
This was an Excellent Bowl of White Kolo Mee. It really was that good. So far no Kolo Mee in Singapore has this level of Mastery.
This Bowl of Kolo Mee is an Absolute Masterpiece!

Read moreI'm just gotta share my honest review here because we experienced a really bad service here after we had been supporting them for few years and always been a loyal customer to them at that time during covid. So the time when we're frequently visit, the uncle and aunty were friendly to us and talk to us few times and even remembered our usual orders. After we eventually less visit because of busy moving house and also location. We went back one day after not long, the uncle's attitude was changed towards us (no more friendly), didn't talk to us like strangers and showed his black face to us like we owe him money. The aunty on the other hand placed the bowls down banging hard on the table so loud when serving us our kolo mees like so mad at us?? And that was the last time we visit and didn't visit them ever since. We paid for our foods and this is the service/treatment that we got for being a loyal customer?? Moral of the lesson: DO NOT go back when you hasn't visit for quite awhile or else they might be treating you like you owe them money even for being a...
Read moreI found this shop while scrolling my tiktok and the noodles in the videos making me drooling thus wanted to try. Went here on lunch time. Typical afternoon, parking was packed and got lucky today after 2 rounds looking for parking space nearby. I ordered Char Siew Kolo Noodle & Cheng (a hearty soup with variety of pork meat and organs). To my tastebud it was okay, but I wish they gave me char siew pork that have fat in it 🤭 I like my char siew or pork garnish on the noodles to have fat in it (my personal preference) the one that they serve me is a bit dry. However, the soup or Cheng is just enough flavourful. Inside they put seaweed and taugeh but still i need some fat in my meats 🫣🫣 Anyways, I have tried it and I am grateful what have been served to my order. I will be back here and order different menu 🤩🤩 Please if you guys can just upgrade your drinks quality, the teh c peng I drank is quite bland. Overall...
