Waiting time: 20mins, decent Service: male older waiter, ok.
Female older waitress was nice, she apologized for the drinks taking a while (maybe 5 mins?).
The short, younger female waitress wearing glasses, however, was rude.
We noticed the portions for our tomato mee was smaller than usual. This isn’t our first time ordering tomato mee, mind you, so we are familiar with the usual portions they serve. This portion was a third of what was as well as in general for tomato mee in Kuching. To illustrate, the portion was close to half a packet of maggi, along with a few slices of fish cake, one chicken ball, one fish ball and some cabbage and sawi. All that costed RM10. We called the younger waitress over and asked if the portion was usually this small and she said yes. My partner said it’s not filling as the noodles aren’t enough. She asked if it wasn’t enough and if we wanted to add more? He said if we were to add we’d have to pay more, yes? And as he was still talking, trying to reason why we were complaining, she just walked away.
As he was paying, the same staff was at the counter and my partner was still civil and asked if she would rather he complain or come back, trying to make her understand why we were unsatisfied with our meal. She began throwing out excuses like the noodles weren’t enough to portion out and my partner countered by asking why say that the dish is available to begin with? Eventually she said that the next time we come she would give us extra noodles but it should be standardized every time for every customer.
The lack of accountability was just a big turn off for us on top of her rudeness so here I am, leaving this big fat review to tell you all to just avoid this place. The food tastes decent but I will not be coming back on account of several other negative reviews that are similar to my dining experience as well as the terrible service,...
Read moreThis is my first time knowing this eatery and I was trying to ask if I can book a place through phone call. From both Facebook and Google informations given, the number that was provided was 082258329. During the phone call, I asked if this (John’s Place) is the correct eatery. HOWEVER, when this person (male) answered the phone, he was so rude to me! He spoke so harshly and said “Everyday I have to tell you guys that this is not an eatery! It’s a hotel! Don’t call and ask me again this is not a place to eat!”. Mind you, I have never been to John’s Place and was only asking about it. Even if that place is hotel, what is so bloody hard to speak politely? And during CHRISTMAS EVE to ruin my mood even.
Now the question is : Is this an eatery cum hotel/budget hotel? Or JUST hotel? Next time update your contacts info and improve your staff’s service! I am just disappointed and won’t even bother to go...
Read moreThis place is awesome! I came here to stay only 1 or 2 nights, but i couldn't leave.. The staff is so friendly and helpful From the first moment I arrived. They're personal and interested. I had diner and lunch at john's place a few times because the kitchen has a lot of diversity. They have an open kitchen so you can see how clean they work. ||At first I had a room in the hotel. At friday John arranged a bed in gibbon guesthouse for me (its just at the back of the hotel) so that I didnt have any bad nights because of the club that is nearby.||Even in the dorm its easy to sleep. Its cool with the fans. You get your own Nice smelling sheets and towel. The toilets and showers are clean. I cant find a bad word about this place. Gonna miss it already! Thx for...
