I paid RM150 for some of the worst food poisoning in my life.
It's a rainy Saturday night. My wife is ill, I'm bone tired, and our broader family just wants something to eat. We order and are served a series of dishes that look bland (hence no photos) and taste like they've been rinsed in dishwater. Which, as will become clear later on, may have in fact been the case.
The bill is horrific. I have never seen lettuce cost so much. Let alone for food that tastes like it's seasoned with sand. The "Auntie" who takes my bill sneers at me like she wants to push me out the door. I am all too willing to take my leave.
The real horror, however, starts the next day. Mild nausea that slowly morphs into a twisting, roiling storm in my stomach. The diarrhea starts and does not stop, not even when I am dried out inside. I writhe on my bed for hours, crying for some shade of relief. By night, I cannot take it any further and am carried to a clinic where I promptly vomit what feels like a hundred spring onions into the bathroom sink - the very same spring onions that accompanied our RM36 Fillet Fish.
I can only imagine some kind of contamination in either the fish, the scallions, or both. As for the feeling of numerous spring onion stalks bursting from one's throat bathed in gastric acid like tentacles in some horror film – imagination doesn't even come close to reality.
Save yourselves and your wallets. If you want body horror, Netflix has far...
Read moreWent here for lunch with colleagues. Verdict:
Food: The roasted duck breast and chicken breast was ok. However, the stir fry choy sum I ordered is quite bland.
Service: When the waitress came over to take our orders, I took the liberty to order mine first since my colleagues didn't seem to have made up their minds. The lady just simply take a glance at me and proceeded to wait for my colleague to make their orders. When they were done, I repeated my order again as I thought she didn't key in mine yet. She asked if I'm making a 2nd order, which I replied no, just to make sure she gotten my order. She's already showing a sour face at this point. When she repeated our orders, she gotten mine wrong and I corrected her. Again, she shown sour face when correcting the order on her tablet. No wonder why lately there're plenty of bad reviews on this restaurant. The service of some workers here are very condescending.
Atmosphere: The new location is much cleaner than the previous one at Puteri 5. Hopefully they can maintain it.
Summary: I used to get my takeaway dinner from here often, like once or twice a week though the food could be a hit or miss. It's also on the pricier side. After this experience, I don't think I'll be coming back. At least I won't be suggesting this shop as the meal option to my colleagues nor family. Probably the fame has gotten...
Read moreOrder my usual roast duck breast rice set from this shop whenever I pass by. Today ard 4pm, not crowded inside the restaurant I did the same order & also takeaway 2 sets of their very nice Yong chow fried rice. After waited for 10 to 15 mins, my drink & the tapao fried rice already up & ready but the roast duck rice yet to be seen on my table. I asked 2 waitress but they ignored me as if they are busy or they didn't hear until I raised my voice to the female aunt who took my offer asking her why a simple roast duck Rice will take longer than the kitchen ordered fried rice sets? And to my surprise she said because the cook needs to reheat the roast duck to make it taste crispy & warm. What the......! They might have probably forgotten my order or the cook simply do not bother to serve the food or they're too busy with Grab delivery orders. Whatever it is, I have never tried any roast meat rice at a roast shops or stalls that will take such a damn long time to prepare especially if you are on the rush. Else I will just order from any chicken rice stall, much faster & no such excuses. I hope the management improve this flow of service, or they will loose some customers as the floor staffs are getting too complacent or not well...
