We have visited Indian Gate several times before, so our family already has a good idea of what we like to order. However, this time we were pleasantly surprised by the service we received from Lahiru. Even though we thought we knew the menu well, Lahiru patiently introduced us to other dishes we had not tried yet. He explained the flavors, ingredients, and spice levels in such detail that it made us excited to explore something different. Thanks to his thoughtful suggestions, we discovered new favorites that we might not have chosen on our own.

What stood out most was his professionalism and genuine care. Instead of just taking our usual order, he took the time to understand our preferences, then gently guided us toward options that suited our taste. His recommendations turned out to be excellent, every dish was flavorful and perfectly balanced. It’s rare to meet a waiter who not only provides service but also enhances the whole dining experience by helping customers enjoy the menu in new ways.

Throughout the meal, Lahiru was attentive and considerate. He checked in at the right moments, ensured we always had what we needed, and carried a friendly smile the entire time. His approach made us feel valued and truly taken care of. Even though Indian Gate has always been one of our favorite restaurants, this visit was extra special because of Lahiru’s effort. The restaurant surprised us with a complimentary cake to celebrate the occasion, which added such a thoughtful and festive touch to the evening.

We left the restaurant not only satisfied with the delicious food but also very grateful for the warm hospitality. It’s experiences like this that keep us coming back again and again. Been wanting to visit this restaurant for the past year or so after driving by thousands of times. Finally did so tonight.

We made a reservation for 11 pax on a Sunday and the restaurant team prepared a private part of the restaurant for us. Thank you very much, we appreciate it.

Ordered quite a wide variety of food for both families and a visitor from the U.S.

Our dinner: Mix Tandoori Platter ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ excellent mix of selections and flavours + good value for 5-6 small eaters Butter Chicken ⭐⭐⭐⭐ well blended flavor and tender chicken Palak Paneer - ⭐⭐⭐ had high expectations as I love this dish but was a bit disappointed with the goat cheese (bland) and the palak was more on the spicy side. Very different to what I'm used to Bamboo Mutton Tandoori (x2) ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ this was the star. Briyani was tasty, good blend of spices and really succulent Mutton. So good we ordered 2 Meen Pollichathu (Baked Pomfret in Spicy Sauce) ⭐⭐⭐ did not suit our palate as we are too used to Chinese style cooked fish where fish is always plump and succulent Hyderabadi Lamb Shank ⭐⭐⭐⭐ really good serving size with fresh steaming biriyani rice Nilgiri pudina chicken ⭐⭐⭐⭐ tasty and well done, would have been better as the mint was overcooked Cheese Naan - ⭐⭐⭐⭐ tasty with good portion of cheese Butter Naan ⭐⭐⭐ not as fluffy as we are used to. More on the crispy and thin side Naan served with a light curry and raita - ⭐⭐⭐⭐

Drinks: Masala tea, bru coffee, mango lassi, banana lassi, mixed lassi ⭐⭐⭐⭐

The service was excellent and Shiva took really good care of us. Overall, everyone was helpful and attentive. The team even came together and sang us a lively, loud and interesting birthday song. Thanks so much Team!

Only thing is, you'll have to pay close attention when they're speaking as the Indian accented English can be difficult to understand.

"Wow, what a unique and amazing ambiance! The restaurant's decor was incredibly thoughtful and immersive. From the vintage furnishings to the eclectic artwork, every detail felt intentional and curated.

One of the best Biryanis I've ever had! The flavors were incredibly rich and aromatic, with each grain of rice infused with the perfect blend of spices. The basmati rice was fluffy and perfect

"I'm obsessed with the Indian snacks at this place! The Chilli Bajji was crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside staffed with onions just the right amount of spice. The Samosa was perfectly flaky, with a delicious filling fried onions and spices

But the real star of the show was the Kerrai Vada - crispy, flavorful, and addictive! The combination of crunchy exterior and soft interior was absolute perfection.

I also loved the variety of chutneys and sauces offered on the side - the tomato chutney,mint sauce and chilli sauce sauce were particularly delicious.

Overall, I'm so impressed with the quality and authenticity of these Indian snacks. They're perfect for a quick bite or as a side dish for a larger meal. Highly recommend! 5/5 stars!"

Must try! "Amazing Pani Puri! The puris were crispy and flavorful, and the pani was tangy and refreshing. Loved the Each bite was a perfect balance of sweet, sour, and spicy. Absolutely addictive!
