Japanese restaurant non halal, serves alcohol. Chic interior designs. They have private rooms but only given to big groups. Made reservation for 3 but only gave us a super small table on the 1st floor and they refused to provide a bigger table. Totally not considerate at all. No walk ins ya.. Fully booked even on weekdays.
Staff just stand there not helpful at all - guess what you have to write your own order list. Out of all the Japanese restaurants I have went , usually they provide digital or qr scan for contactless order. This restaurant just provide the menu and gave us blank pieces of paper. Not even a printed column just some random torn pieces of paper. Moreover, they have sufficient staff - all just standing around, don’t even have the courtesy to help or assist to write your orders down 🙄 what kind of service is this ???? Throughout dinner we have to call them multiple times to refill our tea and bring us cutlery and plates.
We ordered sake and a lot of main entree, struggled have a proper eating space due to the small limited table given. Food portion was ok except for the lala dish ( calm soup) . Came in a super big bowl but only contains 7 mere pieces of little clams. Soup is bland, no sake taste at all (their menu described with sake). Really felt cheated and only 7 small clams - price for rm 20 😡. I could go to the economy rice uncle same clams, bigger amount, cheaper and taste better than that. Don’t believe me ? Just look at my pictures I took. Sad looking clams.
The grilled and fried food items were really good. Sashimi average but not thick slice compared to the nearby sushi restaurant behind The Cube. Food served within 10 minutes. Sake was good - highly recommend to opt for warm sake. Pairs greatly with the sashimi especially. Overall price was normal. Food was still ok except the clam soup & poor staff services. Not really recommended unless you are ok to practically prepared to self service . For the price paid, I have many other options to go with much better...
Read moreWell, overall, the dine in experience was fair. The dinner crowd wasn't too heavy, probably due to the rain.
Food wise, it is generally good and fair, save for the chasu slices, which was a tad too salty, overcooked to the point of being flaky, while the handrolls' seaweed, which were supposed to be made to order, were soggy; there are definitely room for improvement on those dishes. Fresh, crunchy seaweed is the key to a good handroll, and any sushi for that matter.
Despite the size of the outlet, I can't help but to notice that there was a lot of staff, both kitchen and the floor. I guess this is why dishes were prepared quite promptly upon order, and there is always some waiter/waitresses being ready to serve.
While I am sure this was of good intent, I can't help but to feel like an animal in the food, being watched over while feeding. Gazing eyes from the wait staff made the whole dining experience quite awkward. Perhaps some improvements can be made on this, such as invest in those call buttons instead of having wait staff watching over everyone while they are enjoying their meals? If cost, or implementation is a consideration factor, perhaps train your wait staff not to stare at dining customers, especially together in a group of 2 or 3? Spread further and have 1 or 2 to oversee the floor, while the others standby to take over position once they are called for service?
Thank you and I sincerely hope this feedback will not be taken the wrong way. Overall, I am satisfied with the...
Read moreBy far the worst Japanese restaurant I’ve ever eaten at! I would give 0 stars
Not sure if it’s because we arrived at 10PM (closing is 11:30PM), but the food was just not fresh. Ordered basic sushi (salmon mentai roll & unagi roll)—salmon was overcooked, likely to mask its staleness, and the unagi was just okay.
The worst was the wasabi octopus appetizer—completely inedible. It had a brownish-black color, tasted overwhelmingly of the sea, and we couldn’t take more than two bites. Thankfully, they refunded us.
Even the green tea was bad—how do you mess that up? 😭 For the price (RM120 for 2 sushi rolls + 1 main), the quality of food is just BADD. I’d rather eat cheap sushi, which honestly tastes 100x better. Even my boyfriend, who never critiques food, called it the worst Japanese meal he’s ever had.
The service however is good, staff were friendly but quality of...
