Dinner & a Show… But We Didn’t Order the Show 🍿🎤
Went to The Brew House at Bandar Puteri Puchong for a nice, chill dinner with colleagues. We specifically picked this outlet because there’s no live band—perfect for chatting, decompressing after work, and maybe pretending we’re fancy for one night.
Well, joke’s on us, because we got a live performance anyway.
Somewhere in the corner sat a group that took “happy hour” very seriously. There was one lady in particular—we’ll call her Miss Surround Sound—whose voice could probably reach the next postcode. I mean, she wasn’t just talking, she was projecting. If there were awards for Most Dramatic Storytelling with Unnecessary Volume, she’d sweep the season.
At first, we tried to be cool about it. “They’re just having fun,” we told ourselves. “It’ll pass.” Two hours later, her laugh was still echoing through our ribs like a drumline. We were 4-5 tables away and still couldn’t hear each other without lip-reading like spies.
Things really hit their peak when the drinks kicked in. Her voice went from “extra” to “alarm test drill.” I’m convinced somewhere in the kitchen, a plate shattered out of respect.
Eventually, we asked the waiters if they could check on it—and guess what? One of the people at that table, apparently, was the main chef of the restaurant. So yeah… turns out we were witnessing an exclusive behind-the-scenes cast party. Cool cool cool.
Second plot twist: I wanted to order some simple French fries. The staff strongly recommended the flavoured fries instead—it’s “only a bit more” and you even get a free tote bag. Alright, sounds fun, we’re out for a good time! Except… no tote bag ever appeared. When we paid, it was just “thanks and goodbye,” no gift in sight. So I basically got upsold and left with nothing but a pricier snack and emotional baggage.
Final boss level: We ordered the pork satay. Took a bite and… it was still pink. Not juicy pink—raw pink. We flagged it to the waitress and her response deserves an award: “Do you want me to reheat it?” Followed by “because pork satay usually like that one.” 🤯 Is this The Brew House’s official stance now? Medium rare pork? Bold move. Michelin must be shaking.
Look, we still had some laughs (mostly at how ridiculous the night turned out), and we do appreciate the concept of the place. But maybe next time, skip the live opera, serve cooked meat, and maybe—just maybe—hand over the tote bag you used to...
Read moreAtmosphere is great but the food and non alcoholic drinks were meh. Food ordered for myself was Roasted Pork Belly, Matcha Latte, Tropical Splash and Nachos.
The pork belly was so underwhelming. I really couldn't understand how the side dishes compliment the pork because it didn't, side dishes felt poorly planned as they all seemed refrigerated and heated up from store bought products. Pork tasted like hawker siu yuk and the gravy wasn't flavorful enough to coat each cut of the pork.
Nachos were okay, the theme of it looked like an 80's dish. Tropical splash was good too, albeit sweet. Had a nice strawberry zing to it with a slice of orange.
Saving the most disappointing one for last - the matcha latte. For RM10.80 it truly was a bad cup of matcha. It doesn't even taste like matcha, it's too sweet and a little minty (?). I asked the waiter to make it less sweet and add more matcha to it but it still tasted the same. Save yourself from this cup. It's everything sweet except...
Read moreThis is the third Brew House that I’ve been to and the food here isn’t as good and refined as the previous two branches that I’ve been to, the food here somewhat seemed lousy because of the way it’s plated, just a big plate of messy Pork Burger and the patty tasted more like boiled patty instead of grilled as the middle is very pale. The Hainanese Pork Chop tasted okay though the patty was again, a huge chunk with greasy fried batter that is overpowering the plate.
The amount of coleslaw given was covering half of the plate, definitely value for money for big eaters but for a small eater like myself it’s too overwhelming with everything being in such huge portion. It’s quite a turn off for me to continue eating.
Service was good, the staffs were attentive and prompt to take our order and serve us when called upon.
Overall a good place to enjoy a wide variety of food but a little refinement would highly improve the quality...
