What a wonderful, authentic, genuine, local restaurant this is. My girlfriend and I had read some of the previous reviews and being the type of people who enjoy trying new food typical of the places we visit, we decided to try Ta' Futti. We were nearly put off by the initial impression which was a fairly cramped and crowded little bar area, full of locals drinking, with not much space to sit and eat. The menu also looked a bit hit and miss with egg, chips, burgers, chicken nuggets etc featuring fairly heavily but at the bottom of the menu was some more authentic looking local fare including rabbit which we knew was a Maltese speciality. A friendly local saw us hesitating and pointed out that there were more tables at the back and the host showed us through to the room where there was much more room. Please don't come here expecting a "silver service, fine dining experience. The furniture, crockery, cutlery etc are all of the cheap and cheerful type, but the food was wonderful. We shared the rabbit special (which was actually 4 courses - sausage / cheese, pasta, the rabbit with chips and dessert) and added an extra serving of pasta. We ate like kings and were stuffed by the end. The whole meal including drinks came to 40 euros which was an absolute bargain as far as I was concerned. I cannot recommend this restaurant highly enough. The service was excellent and the ambience delightful. I would return in a heartbeat....
Read moreThis is my favourite restaurant in Malta, and I have been coming here for more than three decades! First of all its location and atmosphere is unique. It is located in a little narrow street in the old part of Rabat. The restaurant is over 80 years old and the owners luckily have kept the character of the place. It is a family run business and they are especially attentive to special needs. This is not a fine dining restaurant but the food is truly excellent quality, and consistently good. I dare say possibly the best rabbit served in Malta. If you ask for it, they can make a superb rib eye steak too... But at realistic prices! Marika is a fantastic host, and makes sure everything flows properly. And the value for money is truly awesome! This is why I keep...
Read moreWe were told by our tour guide, this is where the locals eat if you want an authentic Maltese restaurant.
We arrived at the place, were warmly welcomed and taken to a table.
We had the 3 course menu plus I had the farmers wine. I asked to substitute the goat cheese for another sausage for starters. The bruchetta lookalike was tasty. However the wine tasted like ribena, I wouldnt recommend it. 2nd course, the spaghetti and sauce was delicious! The rabbit had many bones and we both found it dry but the sauce was flavoursome. I didn't get liver in my meal but my partner did but he didn't try it. The desert was incredibly sweet, similar to halva.
I would come back here but try...
