Started of strong but in the end a massive waste of money and food. For startes i had fried calamari, which were a decent start. To this point everything was very pleasant. We had a nice view directly at the bay and the startes were comin in fast. Sadly there the good experience ended. We waited around 45 min after the startes and the main course was a dissapointment. I had an octopus in garlic sauce. The sauce was good but the octopus was sooo overcooked that the whole dish was nearly inedible. After the waiter asked me if everything was alright i clearly stated no but he didn’t seem to care.
Update:
Dear Management Team,
Considering your request. I updated my review “fairly” and left out my companion. Considering we both shared a bad experience we think its very much appropriate to leave two reviews. If one of us had a good experience, we would have left a good one and a bad one. My review is now only mentioning the dishes i personally ordered.
Regarding your accusation of me finishing the plate, that is just not true. I clearly left half of the dish because i only managed to eat 2 out of the 4 octopus arms and that only because i was hungry. As mentioned before the waiter asked if everything was alright and i responded: “No, sadly the dish is overcooked”. In my opinion thats obvious enough that i don’t wanna finish the dish. He responded he was gonna check the quality and then we didnt see him til the bill came.
In general it’s not in my interest to harm a business. But considering the dish was sadly so far from acceptable. I feel it’s necessary to share my review.
With kind...
Read moreJust finished our dining experience here and it saddens me to say the food was terrible, with exception of the fresh bread at the start of the meal. The starters were very over priced. The cocktails were pleasant but not a great deal of alcoholic content . Our main course was an utter disaster. We both chose pasta with fillet steak and porcini mushrooms. The food arrived and upon tasting it realised the pasta was hard … not al dente, definitely hard. We told them and they agreed to prepare another one . The pasta returned exactly the same . It was terrible and upon closer examination had only 3 small pieces of beef. We left it and asked a waitress for the bill. When we went to pay we did inform her the food was terrible but got informed by the manager that that’s how the chef cooks the pasta and offered no form of apology, not even a complimentary drink. I have lived in Senglea for 8 years and eat out regularly and this has to be the worst meal I have ever been served. So sad because the restaurant and the location...
Read moreIts becoming harder to find a place were the fine balance between food quality, service level and price range. On this occasion (Sunday 6th November) AcquaBlu and the team managed this, quite superbly.
Starters - we shared a tower platter - every item had its own story to tell, being surprised by the different tastes which came through from a traditionally simple assortment.
Main Course - Prawn Carbonara & Lobster Ravioli - Initially I was sceptic on the Prawn Carbonara, solely from the name, I wondered, will it work? Guess what... it Did. Wife had the Lobster ravioli, of course I tasted, they really were great.
Desert - White chocolate fondant - to die for, perfectly cooked, tasted amazing, nothing more to say here :)
we washed everything down with a couple of bottles of white wine. We were a table of 7 covers, and the time we waited was well within the acceptable range.
All in all Aquablu on that day gave us a great experience, will definitely dine there...
