I visited Esplora Interactive Science Centre today, and it was an absolutely fantastic experience! From the moment I arrived, I was impressed by the stunning location overlooking the Grand Harbour. The centre is well-organised, engaging, and packed with hands-on exhibits that make science fun for all ages. One of the highlights was the Planetarium Show, which was both visually stunning and educational. The interactive exhibits covered a wide range of topics—physics, space, the human body, and much more. Everything is designed to be engaging, so learning feels like play. I especially enjoyed the water and electricity experiments, as well as the optical illusion section. The staff were friendly, helpful, and clearly passionate about science. They took the time to explain concepts and ensure visitors had a great time. The outdoor area was another pleasant surprise, offering beautiful views and even more activities. Whether you’re visiting as a family, a school group, or even as an adult looking for a fun and educational day out, Esplora is a must-visit in Malta. I highly recommend it to anyone who enjoys interactive learning and science in a hands-on, entertaining way. I’ll be adding photos and videos to this review to show just how exciting this place is. If you’re in Malta, don’t miss the chance to visit Esplora—you won’t regret it!

Don't be mislead by google info - this museum isn't free. Adults will pay 8e and children/teenagers 6e. There will be an extra fee for planetarium entrance - 2e. It's a nice interactive museum - something like Copernicus Science Centre in Warsaw. It's for children and adults alike. The sections will teach you about electricity, human body, dietary habits, ecosystem, eco-living, natural phenomena like thunders or volcanoes, sounds, film making and so much more. They boast to have about 200 different exhibits. There is special section for kids aged 3-6 including a playground- both indoor and outdoor, a sensoric room and interesting workshops are held there. The Planetarium would have been a wonderful experience- with great sound and visual system, super comfortable chairs and fascinating intro by the staff but one thing: it was ice cold inside - I felt I was in a freezer. Finally, the restaurant was a nice spacious place to rest and grab a bite of something tasty after all the explorations and discoveries:)

Esplora has to be one of the highlights of our time in Malta. Even if you are not a science geek or an enthusiast, the exhibits are well-crafted and scientific concepts accessible to everyone. The planetarium shows were educational and entertaining - both our boys, 14 and 9 enjoyed it. The historic building is spaced out sufficiently that it did not feel crowded. Its architecture blends the old and the modern, giving it a very chic feel. And the views - the glorious 360 views outside - are actually better than many gardens in Valletta, such as from Upper and Lower Barrakka. What I also like are the positive life-affirming signages that are scattered throughout the facility. A very nice touch. Lastly, I have to say that this science museum is better than many other similar ones in London, Singapore, and New York - to Malta's credit. Highly recommended!

My recent visit to the local museum was a delightful family outing that left us both entertained and enlightened. The museum, which only cost us 7 euros per adult, offered an engaging and informative experience that we won't soon forget. One of the standout features of this museum is its family-friendly environment. From the moment we stepped inside, we felt welcomed, and it was clear that the staff had taken special care to create an atmosphere suitable for all ages. The staff were warm and accommodating, which made our visit all the more enjoyable. It's the perfect place to bring your kids for an educational and entertaining day out. The highlight of our visit was undoubtedly the interactive exhibits. The museum has done a fantastic job of blending education with entertainment. Throughout our journey, we had the opportunity to touch, play, and explore various displays. From hands-on science experiments to interactive historical reenactments, these exhibits ensured that our visit was both fun and informative. Our children especially loved the interactive displays, which made learning a truly engaging experience. The museum is a treasure trove of interesting things to see and learn. The exhibits covered a wide range of topics, from local history to natural science. Each section was thoughtfully curated, and the information was presented in an engaging and easy-to-understand manner. It's not just a place to admire artifacts from the past; it's also an opportunity to expand your knowledge and gain a deeper appreciation for the world around you. Our visit to the museum took approximately two hours, which was just the right amount of time to explore all the exhibits thoroughly without feeling rushed. It's a manageable length for families with young children who may have shorter attention spans. One thing to keep in mind is that you should check whether the planetarium is open before planning your visit. Unfortunately, it was closed on the day we went, which was a slight disappointment. So, I would recommend calling ahead to confirm its availability if that's something you're particularly interested in. In conclusion, our trip to the museum was an enriching and enjoyable experience for our entire family. With its family-friendly atmosphere, interactive exhibits, and a wealth of fascinating knowledge to explore, it's an ideal destination for a fun and educational day out. Just be sure to double-check the planetarium's status before you go. We highly recommend this museum to anyone looking for a memorable and...

I am a local and have been going to Esplora repeatedly with my now almost 10 year old since its opened its doors. You can either purchase tickets just for the exhibits or a combined ticket for the exhibits and the Planetarium.

It's just a fantastic place for children and adults alike to see, feel and explore how the world around us works. The exhibits are interesting, very interactive and very well kept. You find all kinds of science, from motion, biology, optics, energy, thermodynamics, renewable energy, water exhibits, chemistry, physics etc. The staff is super helpful and really go out of their way to help out. Local schools also organise educational visits to Esplora to show the concepts that are being learnt at school in action.

A highlight of Esplora is the Planetarium. There are various shows that you can choose from. These are shown on the hour and it is best that you book them with reception whilst you are purchasing your tickets as space is limited in the Planetarium. The seats recline so you are really comfortable when you are looking up.

Esplora also organises special events, like last weekend's Space week, how the body works week, the engineering week etc where they set up workshops and talks and everything has an age guideline. The workshops are hands on and everyone gets to build stuff out of the materials provided and then everyone gets to test whether his invention works. It's just fantastic seeing the children come up with ideas. The talks are brilliant because children get to speak to the professional people who actually work in that field and they get to ask them any questions they want and everything is explained to them in a way they can understand.

There is a bit for everyone, even the very little ones. Little Esplora is a space dedicated just for them, where they can explore and play!

Most of the exhibits and workshops are on the inside, however they have some exhibits also on the outside, like the water ones.

Esplora is a must for anyone who comes to Malta (or lives here) with children because it stimulates the brains of the future generation into thinking about the world around...

Update: Thank you for your response, I have also confirmed and verified the law in regards to children wearing a mask, if you would like I can forward you the email I received from the Department of Health confirming that running is considered a high intensity activity therefore they are allowed temporary removal of the mask. At any point if my son stopped running of course his mask would need to be put back on or if he was just standing around playing then of course he should be wearing a mask. I understand your confusion in regards to the 1 line in the regulation report by the government website but if you scroll down a little bit you will see a section for temporary removal of a mask. I hope this information helps your staff be able to distinguish when to be so forceful in regards to this.

Esplora is fantastic for kids, my son (3) loved every part of it even the superhero show (the guy was great). The planetarium is still under construction but it didn’t take away from the indoor experience. The reason I’m giving 3 stars is the policing of the mask wearing outdoors for the kids, all the kids are running around in the heat and a group of staff members kept coming up saying that the kids must be wearing their masks. It is so hot outside and my son (just turned 3) dropped his mask into the water and they were adamant he put it back on. I understand the staff are just doing their job but it definitely would stop me from going back. All the kids were sweating from running around in such a fun play area and were so uncomfortable with masks on. If an adult is running they don’t have to wear a mask by law here, but kids do at esplora. I’m unsure of why they were so forceful with it outdoors in the play area, indoors I fully understand. The place is fantastic it was just unfortunate we had to leave early due to this because my child couldn’t continue to wear a wet mask while running. Disappointing in that regard. I really do recommend it as a kids attraction it is a fantastic...
