Il Pirata Senglea — Restaurant in Senglea

Very disappointed, to say the least. First, depending on the clients, either they say they’re fully booked and have no seats, or find you a seat right away. The first time, I went there, around 30 tables empty, and the owner said to his waiter that it was fully booked. 2 minutes after, I call and can book and make a reservation without any issue. Then, service is barely minimum polite, to say the least. Then, the food : linguine with lobster at 30€ : I’m still trying to find where the lobster went... Then, the drinks : a half bottle of wine : when poured, the wine is hot, almost with heat bubbles... I ask the waiter, and he said it’s at temperature and since the day was hot, the wine should be hot... To be noted : this half bottle was priced 15€ on the menu, but comes the check, it’s 40€. I mention the mistake... and magic, the waiter comes back with a new menu where the behalf bottle is priced 40€! They said it was old priced. on old menu and that 40 is the new price. And of course, the supposedly fully booked tables, never went full at all... In short, avoid at all...

I didn't even have the chance to try the food because the service was so bad and rude that we got up and left. To start, we asked if we could sit at a table that was available for two people, he said yes, but that if it rained it was our problem because he didn't have space under the cover and he wouldn't be responsible for helping us. We were shocked by the waiter's attitude, but we decided to sit anyway. We waited for a few minutes for someone to bring the menu to our table when I decided to raise my hand and signal to a distracted waiter who pretended not to look at us. He went to the table and I asked for the menu, and he rudely replied: "Of course I would bring the menu, but you wouldn't even wait!" That's when we decided to get up and leave, and he even had the nerve to ask if we were leaving because we didn't like the menu. But no, the problem isn't the menu, the problem is the terrible, unprepared, rude and possibly sexist wait staff, because it was just me and a friend and I didn't notice the same treatment being given to the other...

I recently had the pleasure of dining at Il Pirata, and I must say, it was an extraordinary experience. From the moment I walked in, I was greeted with a warm and inviting atmosphere with Mr Drago.

The menu was diverse and creatively crafted, offering a wide range of options to cater to all tastes. Each dish I tried was a masterpiece, bursting with flavor and beautifully presented. The rigatoni alla Matriciana was particularly exceptional, with a perfect balance of ingredients that left me wanting more.

The service was impeccable. The staff was attentive and knowledgeable, providing excellent recommendations and ensuring that every need was met with a smile. Their passion for the restaurant and its cuisine was evident in every interaction.
