Positives: the view, the bald guy with beard, nice toilet.
Cons: from the moment we entered it just felt off. Asked one person if we can have a table for 2. He went away and said wait 2 mins so no problem. 10 seconds later another guy came over and asked us and we said some guy is sorting it and he looked confused and had to repeat that we have been seen too.
Sat down, my girlfriend ordered our wine and I asked a question about the food portion sizes. Said we were still looking and he was still stood there. Had to repeat ourselves that we are still not sure on the food.
Bald guy with beard came over to take our order (he looks like he was the boss). He was lovely and seemed interested.
Our wine arrives and he immediately poor me a sample and asks me to taste. I thought this was very misogynistic to assume the man tastes the wine. My girlfriend ordered it so he should have asked who would like to taste the wine which we get in every other place. He then leaves the wine bottle on the table and walks away. I guess putting it in the ice bucket for us is not part of the service.
Our sharing dip arrives and it is lovely. My girlfriends starter arrives about 5 mins later. Then 5 mins after that my starter arrives. It all tasted fine and had no complaints.
My girlfriends main the arrives and then 5 mins later my main arrives. For a place that tries to come across as a high class restaurant then the food should all come at the same time. If this is your concept then you should inform the guest that food comes out whenever it's ready and not together.
My girlfriend had the ravioli and called it lack luster and not any better than super market ravioli.
I had the cuttlefish with squid ink kohlrabi. The cuttlefish was chewy, kohlrabi tasted of nothing and the squid ink was tasty but after I finished my tongue was tingling off the salt.
After we finished our food the table next to us got part of their main and had to point out that it's ridiculous that they haven't got their catch of the day fish at the same time as their side dishes and that it will be cold so to take them back. The waiter didn't seem to understand the issue until he told them to take the dishes away and bring them back together. (This seems to be a common thing since other people had the same issue)
Decides that we had had enough so would ask for the bill. Caught the eye of a waiter walking past and he didn't even break stride to stop and speak to me. I asked for the bill as he powered on past me but if I had a more complicated question I think he would have still kept walking.
This was our most disappointing and expensive meal of the trip. I put down my card and the bald guy with beard as he was walking about spotted it and immediately changed direction to get the card machine. He was honestly the only person serving who we thought knew what he was doing and was attentive. He passed the card machine to the other waiter and when he passed me the machine he pointed out there is an option for a tip.
Every place I go never points out the tip option. It's at my discretion so you shouldn't make such an attempt to get a tip especially since we were far from happy.
I had high hopes for this place but there are few positives and is so far the only meal on our holiday were we have both left...

Starters: We began our culinary journey with a delightful selection of starters. The Tartiflette, a mouthwatering potato gratin with local pecorino and guanciale, set the tone for an indulgent evening. The Spicy Beef Papardelle, accompanied by butter, fermented carrot and celery, pickled chili, and coriander, was a delightful burst of flavors. The Polenta Gnocchi (V) with kefir and local pecorino showcased the chef's mastery in creating a satisfying vegetarian option.
Main Course: The main course offerings were equally impressive. The Lamb Roulade, served with chili potato puree and jus, was a true highlight. The lamb was tender and succulent, and the accompaniments enhanced its flavors beautifully. The Grilled Pork, paired with cauliflower puree and crispy kale, was a delicious and well-executed dish that delighted our taste buds. The Grilled Beef, served with carrot puree, roasted fennel, and jus, was a gastronomic delight that left us craving for more.

Read moreWe came for a short break - our 1st time to Malta. And this was such a lovely place to stay. Made better by the wonderful care and service from the staff I can highly recommend this as a comfortable and high standard hotel. In a good location to access taxis and trips - Sliema ferries and the buses depart from just along the promenade.
I chose a hotel with a balcony and sea view - you should do that as the hotel gets the sun all day and in the afternoon it shines beautifully on your balcony. Decor is modern and comfortable. Air on for the summer. There is a lovely walk in shower and a proper coffee machine
We had access to a wonderful heated indoor pool on the higher level of the hotel. That has wonderful views of Valletta and the water
Probably the best thing I would really recommend is the welcome we received from Lands Ends wonderful staff. Everyone smiles
Food was served in Hammetts Monastik. - breakfast and we also chose there to eat most evenings. You sit and dine looking out the wonderful full length windows in luxury. The team cook wonderful food and take pride in the service. I would like to thank Marlene who greeted us every morning. Such a lovely lady she made us very welcome And recognised us every day. The ham and cheese omelette from the menu was light and perfectly cooked
Evening times the menu was small plates for sharing. Very casual. The restaurant is well visited by smartly dressed locals for drinks or to eat as well. We became creatures of habit ordering the same dishes practically. Much to the good humour of our wonderful waiter Naresh-Zaby. He was good for wine recommendations too. I would certainly recommend the fried cheese with honey. And potato churros
All in all a great all round break at a wonderful hotel. I would...
