Il-Gifen restaurant — Restaurant in Valletta

We were looking for somewhere,that wasn’t a tourist trap, for lunch, and came across this delightful little restaurant. The staff were friendly and helpful and the food delicious. We ordered the fish specials of the day. I had the red snapper with salad and fries, and my husband preferred the sea bass. Both were delicious, and for my husband the sea bass was what he termed ‘life-changing’. We would have loved to come back and try the rabbit stew for a dinner, but unfortunately they close at 4pm. This is a very cute small place in Valletta, and the inside is gorgeous. Food was very good and large in terms of portion sizes! Had a very good meal. The two waitresses were lovely. Only issue was food took 30 mins to arrive even though we only ordered a salads and fries. And there were only 3 tables including us. And an even bigger issue was they accept cash or bank payment via Revolut. Both our cards did not work - we tried 2x Mastercard and 2x Visa Debits and eventually had to...

The restaurant is only open for breakfast and lunch. We went there for lunch and soon realised that we found a spot that is mostly visited by locals, which is always a good sign. And what to say, it was no disappointment at all. We had a fantastic pasta dish with rabbit and ravioli with salmon.
