Karamelli Brunch Cafe — Restaurant in Victoria

It's really difficult to know how many starts to give because there were some great things about having lunch at the cafe but there were some bad. The Bad: After waiting considerable amount of time, we had to call the waiter to place the order (they didn't come to the table themselves). We were informed we could only order the drinks first, and then he would come over again to take our food order (this is ok'ish - I guess the reason was that the kitchen was too busy and they wanted to spread in time the food orders). However, we almost finished our drinks and we had to call the waiter again to place the order for food. The worst thing was that we had to wait 30 minutes for food! If the place is really busy and the waiting time for food is more than 15 mins, the waiters/waitresses should inform about it when seating the guests. Once we got the food on the table, the waiter came 2 times to ask if everything was ok, which is really surprising because we had to call them before twice to place our orders! The Neutral: I decided to put a neutral description for this: we were there during the lunch time, so the place was a bit busy. Came here for a lunch with friends, first time in Victoria and in Malta, ordered some food and drinks but then realized we need to hurry to be able to catch our tour bus. I asked a simple question to a waiter: “how much time it’ll take to prepare the food?” As he didn’t mention anything while taking the order. This caused very negative reaction: “Food takes time, you just came, if I knew you’re short on time I wouldn’t have taken your order!”

This was very rude and he didn’t give any timings, so I asked for takeaway which also seemed to cause some passive aggression from his side. He brought the food very quickly but without any forks/tissues and when we asked for them he said he will get the payment first, then bring. Later he dropped the utensils into the bag carelessly like to a dog.

You can see the Shroomy Munchie in the picture. Looks ugly, probably, they’re not used to prepare takeaways or just wanted to spoil our mood even more. The taste was okay, however.

Very bad treatment...

Had higher expectations as this was based on a friends recommendation and their instagram looks great. Unfortunately, doesn’t live up to the hype, to start: Coffee, flat whites and others were great, the food was less than as you can see not much effort out into presentation, and this may be due to how busy they were. Food, has the Benedict with salmon which was inconsistent with its temperature, parts were warm and other parts were cold, my partner had the American, bacon was seemingly not cooked all the way and the eggs were poor quality resulting in not eating them. Service: the service, by whom, I assume was the manager,was frantic. They were busy and possibly understaffed and I appreciate that, but we were asked to move tables and our reservation at 10:30 seemed to have been a surprise.
