In Victoria, Gozo, you will find a cool, quiet respite from the heat, throngs of people, and the traffic just off Republic Street, La Sciabordita wine bar on Triq Dun Karl Bondi. Their wine selection rivals any on the island, and their scrumptious tapas plates are full of delightful imagination. Two of our favorites are caramelized onions with creamy melted pecorino on Maltese bread and Il Granducato, an excellent Charcuterie board with fresh local fruit, cheeses, nuts, and salumi. We have tried most of the menu items. They are all creative, fresh, and delicious. We enjoy a tasty glass of prosecco with our meal. The servers are helpful and spot on. Everything is prepared fresh, so do not expect it to come out immediately. Enjoy one of their vast selections of wine. The atmosphere is peaceful with calming music, making it the perfect place to forget the busy humanity outside. We highly recommend trying La Sciabordita for a delightful, relaxing getaway from the craziness of Victoria during and after...
Read moreI really didn’t want to skip this spot as the reviews were raving. I’m so glad we made a point to stop here for some wine and bites after walking the Citadel! Truly wonderful atmosphere, the wine was pleasant, and the service phenomenal. My partner rarely drinks and the wine was so good that we stayed for more!
If we come back to Gozo we will be prioritizing this place and likely will come more than once. A lot of the spots near Victoria are touristy and honestly not that good. But Sciabordita was a pleasant delight that reshaped our opinion on the area!
Next time we’ll be sure to come for the live music and stay a while!
P.s. the restaurant is so clean and the bathroom was the nicest bathroom I’ve used since arriving to the island.
5 stars doesn’t rate it high enough. Thank you to the owner for making this delightful joint...
Read moreThe place has only been open for a short while and we’ve already been twice, once for a platter and wine, and another for drinks.
The atmosphere is quite chill, nice music and very cosy. We had the Walnuts, Honey and Lard bruschetta which was so good, and we also got the La Sciabordita platter which was freshly made (it’s an open kitchen style so you can see the meats and cheeses being freshly cut). We also had a delicious tiramisu and a chocolate lava cake with fresh berries.
The second time round we just went for a drink before a night out.
The service is excellent, the staff is super friendly and inviting, and the owner is very welcoming and sweet.
We’ll definitely be returning...
