'Coming back to your restaurant would be a big no-no from me and my family'

We experienced several issues during our dinner. First, we found it difficult to reach your establishment by PHONE for a reservation. We, then decided to drop in.

Stunned, the level of customer service was lacking. Both at the reception area and during the service. The demeanor of the waitstaff, including an Elderly Chinese man, was particularly disappointing; he placed our order plate precariously at the edge of the table and then left, which left us all quite un settled. Shoot. What was that ? We asked ourselves !!!

Additionally, the portion sizes were inadequate. The fried rice, which we ordered twice, tasted inconsistent, and y'know what-one portion of fried rice plate contained 'only' four pieces of shrimp. The sautéed lamb was also unsatisfactory, with an unpleasant odor suggesting it might have been leftover food. The sautéed garlic shrimp dish had only 'six' pieces.

Following the consumption of these shrimp, I, personally experienced an allergic reaction, which raises concerns about whether the seafood was properly washed and cooked. Immediately, the allergy triggered symptoms like swelling in my right eye, hives on my forehead, and scratches around my wrist and forearms. Thankfully, I found some lemon slices and consumed them to help prevent more serious issues.

That same night, my mom had hypertension because of the food. This was an utterly disappointing experience.

WE DO NOT RECOMMEND LA JONQUE RESTAURANT. If you value your health, stay away from this restaurant.

Struggling to express our frustration with this restaurant, but it is clear that you guys do not deserve our money,...

La Jonque was once my favorite chinese restaurant, ( since the past 18 years) but I think the 2 hours spent there on 16.10.2021 with my family just changed my whole perception about it.

When we entered the restaurant, there was no proper welcome, no good evening. The only question asked from the reception was did you make a reservation and the attitude they gave was just like they didn't want any more people to come.

They had to set the table. Someone came to take our orders, but no smile, and was not really making eye contact. Eye contact with the customers is important.

During the whole time we were eating, no one came to check up on us, about whether everything is alright or if we need anything else.

After the dinner, a lady came to clear our table, and asked if we would like anything else, dessert or coffee. But then she left. We waited 30 mins, no one came to take the dessert orders. So we decided to just pay and leave. We had to go to the reception to pay. Since no one was to be seen near the tables to attract their attention. All the waiters were at the bar doing what, I don't know.

While we went to the reception to pay, again, nothing was asked if everything was okay, or if the food was alright. The receipt was just thrown on the reception table.

Food was okay but overall it was a bad service, with an arrogant attitude from the staff. We didn't feel welcomed.

I agree that with the pandemic and mask wearing, everything is difficult. But I am into the customer service and aviation business as well, but I never give a bad attitude to my customers.

And I do not think we will be coming...

A decent unfussy family restaurant.

An unassuming place at first glance, as you have to take a rather conspicious-looking lift to go up to the restaurant.

A large group, we ordered a range of starters including hakien and crispy chicken.

These starters tasted great, cripsy with well cooked interior with the right amount of flavours.

A range of mains were ordered as well, I got sweet and sour chicken and prawn fried rice.

The sweet and sour chicken tasted fine with good flavours, although lacked a bit more tenderness than I wouldve liked. The egg fried rice was cooked well with a good balance with the flavours. The portions are great.

The service is attentive and adequate recommendations were made, which was helpful. Seating is comfortable with the restaurant spacious and no danger of bumping your chair behind into anyone else.

Overall, an unfussy no nonsense family restaurant, which has a wide range of dishes available for all...
