The main dining area is beautiful, with details of Talavera and a beautiful fountain in the middle, complete with lorekeets and canaries. So the ambiance is great. The service not so much. The waiters are helpful, but not very friendly and not what one would say “on top of things”; that is to say, they don’t do recommendations or ask if you want add-ons, which could be good or bad, depending on what you want. The food has good taste, but the menu is limited and they don’t do special requests. For example, the have one omelette listed in the menu as made with egg whites, but they won’t do any other omelette with egg whites. So, not very accommodating. They did change our table, to make more room for extra guests which was nice. I’m giving them a 3/5 because I would give them 4/5 but the rest of my party would give them a 1/5. I would recommend it if you have time, and want a restaurant with nice ambiance. The price seems right if you are vegetarian, but beware that adding on any type of meat will add on to your bill. I will try to post pictures next time. The food...
Read moreMy mother and I hosted a very small gathering here 3 days ago. Unfortunately, our experience was not a positive one. For starters, waiters are responsible for multiple events, all being held at the same time. Waiters were polite but seemed unorganized and overworked. I had to request tea 4 diferent times and even then, not enough tea was brought out. Our food was served an hour after advising waiters multiple times our whole party had arrived. Every time we requested to be served, same waiters would again ask if our whole party had arrived. I dont know if they were stalling or just overworked. The food and drinks were good. The fruit was delicious! This event was held in the patio area on a rainy day. It was beautiful and chilly. It would have been the perfect feel if the heaters promised beforehand, would have consistently stayed on. They seemed very old. Needless to say, we were very happy when the sun came out. Its a nice, beautifully decorated restaurant; which is why we chose to host our small gathering here. It was just extremely...
Read moreId you want traditional Mexican cuisine, you can't go wrong with La Diferencia.
Easy location with a pay lot. It can fill up, so you may be looking for a bit. The restaurant itself has a nice traditional Mexican ambiance. It's usually a bit cool inside, which I appreciate. Service is incredible. They treat you so well.
Food is always great. For breakfast, I ordered my favorite: molletes. They are excellent here. They have a ton of other options here as well including pancakes and waffles. If you come for lunch or dinner, ask for chapulines and/or escamoles. The first is crickets and the latter is ant larvae. Both are delicacies and delicious. I hear the salted fish (when in season) is great as well.
La Diferencia is great for any meal. I will come back...
