We’re a Mexican/american family of 5, arrived at the restaurant without a reservation asked for a table and the guy who happened to be the manager said the restaurant was full, my husband asked how long was the wait he said at least two hours because he was waiting for 9 families that had reservations already, he then told us we could go to the plaza and that there’s plenty of good restaurants there, we said thanks and left the place, walking around we noticed all the restaurants had a wait, so we decided to call La Trattoria and put our name down for us to come back later, what a surprise when the lady that answered the phone said there was no wait that they could seat us right away, we went back she gave us a table upstairs and the restaurant was not even half full, we sat down ordered food and ate and the “9 families” that the manager was waiting for never arrived, I was able to see his surprise face when he saw our family seated, I would love to know what was the reason he denied us a table. Food was ok, nothing out of this world, we’ve been to better Italian...
Read moreThis restaurant benefits from an excellent location overlooking the charming church and lively plaza of Guanajuato. The atmosphere and views are inviting, making it seem like the perfect spot for a meal. Unfortunately, the food was a complete disappointment and the worst of my trip.
The bread arrived cold, and the pasta lacked any real flavor. The pasta texture seemed uncooked and improperly prepared. When I asked for the unacceptable pasta dish to be sent back, the server and manager defensively claimed no one had ever complained about their food before. This obvious lie showed their lack of care for food quality and customer satisfaction.
Between the cold bread, flavorless pasta, and awful service, this was a terrible dining experience that fully ruined the otherwise lovely ambience. I would not recommend wasting a meal here with so many better options available in Guanajuato. The views simply are not worth the terrible food...
Read moreSorry, I don't get it. I guess all positive reviews come from people that never had real Italian food in their lives. The pizzas are just bland and not authentic at all: The dough tastes like crackers and also feels crumbly. I couldn't taste the tomato sauce. The cheese is Mexican Mozzarella which is probably some processed soft cheese with a quite sour taste. Neither the parma ham (mine came with a small piece of plastic wrap) nor the cooked ham (in Germany this could not be sold as ham, it's the typical Mexican something-that-looks-like-ham-from-far-away) were any good. Not even the basil is authentic Italian, because they are using Thai basil.
Lasagna meat sauce was good, but the same awful cheese spoiled it. With Oaxaca it would be OK I guess.
Worst price/value ratio ever for me in Mexico (and I spent more than 5 month here). Two stars for the very...
