This is a cannot miss experience when you come to Cabo. Just when you think you’ve eaten great tacos in your life, these will blow those all away.
First, let’s talk service. I hear all the guides are great but our Lorenzo was the best, friendliest, and most knowledgeable taco tour guide you could ask for! Great sense of humor, and esp-like predictive hospitality. He is a walking breathing living library of Alexandria. He gave us the hitchhikers abridged history of Mexico, North America, Aztecs, Spanish colonialism, 1600s trade routes, Samurai and wove taco culture into all of it. How? Only one way to find out.
Of course you are reading this for if the food was good. Yes, very good. Most of the places are holes in the wall that you would never stop to try because you would be incorrectly judging a book by its cover. A couple places were very nice, where you would want to bring your family to. And one of those places had the best tacos (in my humble opinion, but I won’t reveal the name). But there was not a bad taco. You better come hungry because otherwise you may tap out before you try everything. Most places you can pick what type of taco you want, but in general you should take the guide’s recommendations. Mole was amazing at both stop 2 and 3. Pastor at 2 was so amazing (I would have guessed it was duck not pork). Near the end you may get to experience local natural fruit popsicles and/or churros. As well as a very informative and delicious tequila tasting. I didn’t like tequila beforehand but I do now and learned how to appreciate it.
This may be an annual trip for us now. Thanks Lorenzo and Juan More Taco. By the end you may say No More...
Read moreThe Original Taco Tour was everything we hoped for, and more! I do a TON of research on places to eat and things to do before visiting a new place, and this tour hit every highlight, and I still learned a ton.
Our guide, David, was a whole lot of fun to walk around town with. Not only did we get stuffed full of yummy food, we learned quite a bit about the area, including places to stay and things to do. My favorite walking and food tours end up feeling like we’re just hanging out with a friend, showing us around town, and this was exactly that. The places were planned, but the conversation was organic and full of fun anecdotes from prior tours he’d done. It’s clear that he loves where he lives and showing people around.
At the end of the tour, we were given the list of places we went, and his recommendations so we can go back on our own, but I plan to just do the tour again with him. I speak a small amount of Spanish, and could probably handle ordering and navigating on my own, but it was just fun to hang out. Like a true friend, just showing us around town, David did us a solid and negotiated a taxi, for a good price, to get us back, because there was no way I could walk anymore after a hot day, and WAY more food than I should have eaten.
Jorge, who did our tequila tasting, was very knowledgeable, and personable. I would have liked to spend some more time with him (he really reminded me of my dad), but it was such a long, hot day, that I just wanted to go lie down and contemplate my life decisions after eating so much food.
