As a vegetarian, I don’t often say this, but this dining experience was truly exceptional. 🌿
This is a tropical, bird-themed vegetarian restaurant with plenty/mostly of vegan options! While not fully vegan but very vegan-friendly.
The food was outstanding. The Jamaica al pastor is an absolute must-try—creative, colorful, full of flavor, and perfectly balanced in texture. Every dish we tried was fresh, vibrant, and beautifully presented. It’s rare to find vegetarian food prepared with this much imagination and care.
We finished with a chocolate milkshake, which was the perfect sweet ending—rich, creamy, and delicious.
The restaurant itself is a delight: there’s a small shop with clothes, artwork, and merchandise, and you can also order to-go. The space is accessible, with bathrooms and a ramp at the entrance for anyone who might need it.
What makes this place even more special are the owners. They’re passionate bird enthusiasts (one is even a biologist!) and happy to share fun and fascinating bird facts. They also organize tours and activities for birdwatchers in the area—so come for the amazing food, and stay for the conversation. Ask about their tours!
Menus are available in both English and Spanish, making it very easy for all visitors.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 10/5 stars – Worth the visit, especially if you’re looking for something unique and delicious just outside the busy tourist zone.

Read moreFound this cozy spot when googling breakfast places near me. I ordered over the phone with Jazmine (owner). When I arrived, I was pleasantly surprised at what a cool vibe they had going on at Tropical Kitchen. The interior decor is funky, tunes were spot on and the crowd was young and hip. Jazmine met me with a smile as she was hand-mixing my pancake batter. As I was waiting, she served me a sample of their exclusive smoked/dehydrated hibiscus flower with totopos {best thing I’ve ever put in my mouth ;)}!
My lady and I ordered the vegetable omelet which was outstanding and accompanied by sliced papaya, apples and bananas. Highly recommend! I also wanted to try the pancakes which were equally as incredible. After meeting Jazmine, you can see/taste how much love and passion is put into every dish. You owe it to yourself to try this gem if are a local or visiting. You won’t be disappointed. Continued success to Tropical Kitchen and thank you for a...
Read moreThis place was a vibe from seeing it from the outside to walking through the threshold, seeing the colors of the plants, the art on the walls, the music to the tables and chairs! There's also a spot to sit on pillows at a low table and a little boutique of clothing both female and male, purses, jewelry, books, oils, candles.
Also the story of how thing place came to be was brought to me through both of the owners. A husband and wife team! The way the menu, food and drinks are prepared is based on the colors of the animals! It's a vegan joint with the choice to add non vegan items to your meal so it's suitable for everyone.
I felt very welcomed, taken care of, and appreciated!
The food was delicious, the flavors are incredible, the atmosphere is super chill and a place one could spend a while at. For me I felt like I was at home and I could just spend hours there enjoying everything!
This place is a must go to spot for anyone...
