Ordered the "Sausage" & Egg which is also served with "bacon" and waffle. The coffee was good, the orange juice was good but thats it. The sausage is actually 2 hot dogs, and the bacon is probably pig skin, but hard to tell, as it was as hard as a lawyers leather shoe. The 2 sunny side up eggs where under cooked also. Definitely over priced but it was our last day and we needed to kill time waiting for the ferry. Restaurant wasnt busy at all, maybe 8 guest with us included. Took approximately 30 min for it to be served which is far to long. I put the plate to the side immediately, lost my appetite. Someone did approach me about it and asked if I wanted something else but I said no, I had asked or the bill 3 times, before during and after, so we could pay and leave to catch out ferry. I didnt ask for a comp but they did comp my breakfast and we missed our ferry waiting for the bill. We started our breakfast a little over 1 hour before the ferry arrived too, not acceptable for the island with so many great restaurants, vendors and small businesses there. Everyone on the island is amazing, this sadly is our first disappointment on the island over the past decade of staying there for weeks on end over the winer months. The visual presentation of the food served to us looked as if it was a display (plastic) vs real food. 550 peso for 1 breakfast plus 150 peso tip for our server as its not her fault, we left with empty stomachs.
Another reviewer here stated the following in their review
"Overpriced food that's average quality at best. They will bold faced rob you on the exchange rate. Don't be fooled by the cutesy environment, spend your money with a restaurant that treats you fairly."
Sounds about right, such a shame too, lesson learned. Now I will wait for their response to attack me like they've done on so many...
Read moreI came here twice once for breakfast and once for lunch (to try the lobster Mac n cheese). The place is new, charming especially if you sit outside - very nice breeze. The menu is interesting and has a bunch of things i would have liked to try, nice blend of trendy dishes and healthy choices. I like the place overall but the seats inside, although cute, and terribly uncomfortable. I plan on coming back but only if outside seating is available (those chairs are good). The service was good but the English of the server could be better considering this place is catered to Americans/Europeans (hence the name, and prices).
For breakfast I had the madame croquette which was good but I think it could be much better if they toasted the bread and/or considered using better bread then toast (like a baguette). It needed some crunch for the texture.. At the least once it’s baked add butter and crisp the bottom like a grilled cheese. I did like how they used bachemal sauce.
As for lunch I had the lobster Mac n cheese - and oh wow it’s as good as it looks. Super creamy and delicious. I came back from the beach just to try this and it was worth it.
One other thing for the management - you should consider adding beer and alcohol as drinking is a big part of brunch in America - take a que from the north garden and add bloody Mary’s, mimosas, beers etc.. also add some sides - like fruits, potato’s, sausage, bacon, in case you want to order something else but would like to share these on the side (also like north...
Read moreCute place with great presentation. Average food at way above average prices. When I went there they were doing a 17 to 1 peso to USD exchange, pretty much every other location I was at was doing 19 to 1. It doesn't sound like much, but it adds up. It was the first place I stopped to eat and I hadn't exchanged money yet so I paid in USD. Between paying in USD and getting change in pesos I paid twent dollars a meal for granola and some yogurt with a bit of fruit on top, a coffee, an orange juice, and a piece of toast with avacado on it (again, adorably presented, but that's all it is). Then I lost ten USD dollars in the change I got with their 17 pesos conversion. This was a 50 USD meal before tip. I didn't even pay that much at North Garden. I don't recommend this place, they're not worth the price, and you can get as good or usually better food for better prices all over the immediate area. If you do go here, pay in pesos
Edit: Their response to my review was to blame me for my bad experience because I didn't pay in pesos. I suppose that's fair, although it still doesn't address the overpriced food or the peso to dollar rate they choose to use. Maybe you will love this place, but I think their system is designed to gouge you and your money will go further if you go elsewhere like Q Bravo, Aroma Isle, Rubens, or Mogagua to...
