Taquería Los Burritos — Restaurant in Isla Mujeres

In 2 weeks in Mexico this was by far the worst experience ever. It was our last meal before heading to the airport and i was lucky that it was the last meal and not the first of the vacation otherwise it would have probably ruined my expectation on a such beautiful country where people are so kind, but in this place, people are NOT NICE and the service and the food are really bad. We where looking for a table outside and noticed that it had some bird poo on it,and the older lady (probably the owner) tried to push it out of the table with the corner of the menu! So we opted for a table inside when the best thing was to walk out and choose another place. Food was not tasty and really poor, quantity and quality. No soap in the toilet or toiler paper, nothing.i pointer it to the woman and the waitress took ages to refill it. They didnt have mezcal, the only place in all the coast that didnt manage mescal! Food and service really poor. And the moment of the bill, i opted for 5% , just because i felt bad not giving nothing since it was a small business.the lady said it was from 10%, that 5 was not possible. I said ok go for 10% then. Her machine had a internet connection problem so my paiment was declined. She made us wait 10 minutes to try and try again to make the paiment, and we where also on a rush having a intercontinental flight in a few hours. We didnt have enough pesos with us because we had to use them for the taxi to the airport. We missed 40 pesos, and the lady didnt even want to give us a discount (only 40 pesos!!) Since it was her problem of lack of internet connection and not ours! The lady started going crazy said she would have called police if we didnt give her the 40 pesos we owed her. At the end we gave it to her, and of course the propina she had asked for, we did not give it. Really bad!! Avoid this place! It RUINED MY EXPECTATION FOR MY LAST MEAL IN MEXICO,...

3 of us went for dinner here because it looked cool from the outside.

Main reason for this review is down to the man working, trying to scam us. He came over with the card machine asking for a tip. We threw in 10% even though we shouldn't have done anything given how crap the food was.

He adjusted the machine and placed 15% tip - I only copped this after tapping my card when I realized the amount was more than I had calculated in my head.

It was the weakest meal we had over the 2 weeks in Mexico. Nachos were poor and chorizo was tasteless.

I am never one to write poor reviews on small businesses and I wouldn't have here either but only for the fact that he pulled the wool over our eyes and scammed us on a higher tip. It didn't even phase him either, we took him up on it and he didn't give a crap.

Shocking food, poor service, scam artists. Far, far better restaurants...

Ordered the quesadilla. It was $40 pesos and so small it was a joke. Not very tasty. I'm vegetarian and ordered the beans and told the waiter. He said the beans had no meat but they did. Don't waste your money on this place if you are vegetarian. They offer vegetarian options but the beans are not vegetarian. They have meat in them. I told them I can't eat them and said I wouldn't pay for them. The owner came over to talk to us about it and we told them we don't eat meat. They seemed to have a problem with us not wanting to pay. They don't seem to understand what vegetarian means. Don't understand why the owner would have vegetarian options and then say in her response to my review that I shouldn't have eaten here. Bad service. Go somewhere else to eat.

I suggest Ruben's up the street. So much better, good prices and portions. Freshly made with lots of veggies. Great...
