We were just on Isla Mujeres and this was our arrival and leaving point. We had food here twice. They have cold frozen margaritas that so refreshing in the heat and the food was tasty. We had a mixed molcajete that had beef, chicken, shrimp, grilled onions guacamole and quesedillas on the side. We also had an order of regular guacamole that was so good. They give you chips and 3 types of salsa that are very flavorful. Mario works the front and was so helpful getting us to our golf cart rental and he also arranged our whale shark tour. He met us in the morning (on his day off) and walked us to where we needed to be for our excursion. He also held our bags on our departure day day till it was time for us to head to the ferry. He's a character and will take care of you so be sure to tip him well. Xcatik has good food and drinks and the staff are all friendly. Definitely worth a try if you are near the ferry or...
Read moreStopped in to try this place for dinner after reading great reviews. We were pretty disappointed. We ordered the guacamole to start and it had little to no flavor. They gave us a trio of different sauces/salsas with the chips. I put the pico de gallo on the guacamole and it was much better.
I ordered the filet mignon, medium temperature. Our server seemed confused about “medium” (wife is Spanish speaking and was ordering for us in Spanish) so we even showed him pictures of the cook we wanted. I’ll post a picture but my steak, which was not a filet cut at all, came out extremely well done. It had decent flavor but it was hard to enjoy being so over cooked. My wife said the octopus was very good. The vegetables were delicious but the mashed potatoes were sour.
Jalapeño margaritas were very good as well.
We might come back and try breakfast next time we’re here but dinner left more...
Read moreThe best restaurant experience in my life so far. We discovered this place by accident. We were searching for tacos or some burger 🙈 but some waiter invited us to Xcatic Restaurant and we decided to enter. I had in plans to try Tikichnic fish on another day in another place (which was my favorite before Xcatic) but the waiter tempted us to try and I'm glad that we ordered. The food was amazing and the service was excellent. Tequila tasting made us buy coffee-tequila 🙈 at the end I was talking with the owner of the restaurant and he shared the history of Isla Mujeres; why it is called like this, how it was on the beginning and he showed vintage and new photos of the island, himself, his brother who is fisherman. It was perfect...
