I recently visited a restaurant in Puerto Vallarta during restaurant week at Fridas I have to say my experience was absolutely awful. The service was extremely rude and unaccommodating. Despite a sign on the door indicating they accept Visa, I was told upon being presented the bill at the end that they only accept cash. When I expressed my surprise at this policy and mentioned that the nearest cash machine was four blocks away, one of the staff members laughed at me.
To make matters worse, the bartender went ahead and poured out the drinks my friends ordered despite the fact we were still waiting for one of our party members to return with cash. The staff then told us we had to leave and come back only if we had cash, and even went so far as to accuse us of being thieves.
After I returned with cash, I was further shocked to learn that they accept credit cards for food payment, only the drinks had to be paid for with cash.!!! This bizarre and inconsistent policy only added to the frustration I felt at this establishment.
I came in hoping to enjoy a nice, relaxing dinner, but instead I left infuriated and mad. The only positive aspect of this experience was the food, which was excellent. However, that was not enough to make up for the terrible service we received.
As someone who lives in Puerto Vallarta, I have frequented many restaurants, but this was by far the worst service I have ever experienced. I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone, and I hope the staff undergoes a major attitude and policy overhaul to ensure this never happens to another...

Frida's Kitchen is a perfect spot to relax in PV!
We often stop by Frida's Kitchen for a drink or two to take a load off while exploring the neighborhoods of Puerto Vallarta. Sitting outside on the rail is a delight, as we can watch the people and traffic pass by—a great way to soak in the local vibe.
While we haven't had the chance to try the food yet, we've heard nothing but good things. What we can vouch for is the fantastic happy hour pricing and the high quality of drinks. Plus, striking up conversations with other patrons always adds to the experience.
An added bonus? The place is dog-friendly, making it a welcoming spot for our furry friends too!
I hope you too get to capture the essence of Frida's...
Read moreThis is my go to restaurant and bar in Vallarta. Great prices, strong drinks and good food. The staff are just lovely. Be advised this is their new location - I do miss the intimacy of the older location but I'm sure this one will be just as festive once Covid moves on. Yes this is a gay owned establishment and the majority of patrons are gay. What I love is how welcoming the space is to everyone.
My traveler tip is to consider tipping all your service providers as well as you can - they are all struggling with the Covid shut downs and 20% of a nominal bill may not really affect your wallet too much but will majorly help their...
