I’ve waited a long time to write this review, because I wanted to be sure about whether it was even meaningful to do so. The people that run this place are lovely, the place is very well regarded in the community, and the people who love this place ABSOLUTELY LOVE IT. I think it caters to expats and people who vacation in PV regularly. We are well traveled through other regions in Mexico, and based on the reviews, we were excited to be able to get a reservation for The Red Cabbage. We didn’t find it difficult to locate. It’s a lovely walk from where we were staying. The service was great and the drinks were good. The decor is odd, but sort of kitschy cute. The food was okay. The place decidedly caters to Americans and palates that favor a more bland experience. Just like most restaurants in the romantic zone especially, there were no locals in the place. We didn’t hate anything we had there, but we wouldn’t return. I would say the food quality is on par with a standard chain restaurant in the states. One of the most interesting things about it was the temperature of the foods we were served - all just above room temperature. Nothing was hot. We ordered several menu items to taste things and have some leftovers. We didn’t take the leftovers. The mole was adequate, the chili en Nogado was fine, the peanut soup was good. Nothing was amazing. So if you’re in town for a month and want to give it a shot just so you can say you did, go for it. But if you’re there for a week, just about anywhere would be better.

This place is incredible. It’s on top of the hill in the romantic zone. We walked there and it was a nice and peaceful walk, but we took an Uber home which would be recommended if you aren’t up for a long long walk. The service was phenomenal! Our server was so kind and friendly and interested in who we were and where we came from. We chatted about our travels and our next stops. The food was incredible. We both got peanut soup and the poblano mole. They were both so rich and so flavorful. Our neighbor recommended we try this place and it did not disappoint. It was fantastic and we will definitely be back!! Make sure you bring your appetite. The desserts looked amazing but we could not fit anything else after dinner.

I went for the peanut soup and huitlacoche, and was not disappointed! Although it would be awesome if they offered the option to try a taste of the two different quesadillas (3 of the same was a bit much, and I really wanted to try the zucchini flower quesadilla!) next time! I was even persuaded to have a piece of flan (I love flan!) and I was pleased to see that this was crustless flan! I loved the wall art, the colour scheme, and that the room was abuzz with a wide cross section of clientele (on a Monday night!) and the whole experience was completed by the snobby (not really! he was a cutie behind the gruff exterior!) waiter!

WARNING!!!RIPOFF ALERT! ASK FOR THE PRICES BEFORE YOU ARRIVE TO RED CABBAGE

This is a bait game-based on past years reviews- I’m sure the place was great 10 years ago…however today when you walk through a ghetto to arrive at a mediocre restaurant that charges 550$ Mexican pesos for 5 grilled shrimp 120$ pesos for a margarita (tiny) 150$ pesos for a cup (tiny) of tortilla soup 170$ salad (mostly iceberg lettuce)and is obviously too embarrassed to post his prices on line because it’s like a joke on the gringos and they would never arrive had they known the prices in advance. Really insulting!!! Grinning the whole time they gauge you! Be careful this is a bad movie happening again and again to polite tourists - Do not spend your hard earned money here they’ll just laugh at you behind closed doors -seriously you will make your bread and butter today CUCO but nobody is coming back after you burn them here at red cabbage cafe! Save your embarrassment before being sucked...

Holy Mole! (sorry, couldn’t resist 😊) Living in El Remance for the last few weeks I’ve passed this small, very unassuming restaurant every day. Never a hard sell to try and get you to come in, and I can see why - it’s reputation speaks for itself!

I think you can tell a lot about a restaurant from the quality of its house wine, and so the crisp Argentinian Sauvignon Blanc was a good sign. I ordered the Mole Poblanco, and it was excellent - Rich sauce, tender chicken, fluffy rice and tasty refried beans, accompanied by steaming hot tortillas (of which the waiter happily brought more when I ran out).

The decor is fabulous (lots of local art) and the staff were charming, even helping me with my awful Spanish!! I had a wonderful evening and am so glad I stopped by. Highly recommend if...
