My traveling group and I have ran into this place, by accident, several years ago. Whether it was the name Kooky that caught our eye or Kooky staff flagging us down to come over to check them out, or because it was simply a Karaoke bar… we are now big fans of Kooky and hooked.
Despite Kooky karaoke bar being in the Romantica Zone, whether you’re straight, gay, or whichever way you identify, this bar is a good fit for any person that likes music and good old fashion fun. My partner is loves Karoke and loves this place.
There’s plenty of seats inside and outside in the front patio area. When we do visit Kooky, it’s usually to hangout inside the bar and get a drink or two and, of course, to karoake. Dancing is also an option here. Basically, this bar gives you plenty of room, literally, to dance and to enjoy whichever way you like.
Servers are very attentive and friendly. Pretty much, they will take care of you.
In past times, my traveling group will sing about two to five songs until they’re tapped out. Last week night, they were only able to sing two songs due to the long wait list. My partner and her friend were 15th in line. Nonetheless, they were able to get their karaoke fix and move on to the next bar in the Romantica zone.
Expect a good time at Kooky, if not great time, and, you don’t have to be a singer to like this place. I am confident, you too, will agree. Most importantly, keep an open mind to all kinds of singers...
Read moreI will start this by saying service here is usually better. My partner and I frequently visit Kooky, often with a group. While the drinks are average, we continue to go because of the great servers, fun karaoke, and social atmosphere. However, after our experience tonight, I will not be returning.
Before ordering, I specifically requested that my partner and I be on a separate tab, as our group would be leaving at different times. When it came time to pay, we discovered an extra drink on our bill. The rest of the table had already paid, and this drink had been brought over while the server was trying to determine who it belonged to. No one at our table claimed it, and the server took it back—but it was never removed from our bill. When I brought this up, the bartender was dismissive and unwilling to correct the mistake.
A few suggestions for management:
Servers should be able to split checks properly, even when guests are seated together. This would prevent confusion and ensure fair tipping. Requiring an entire table to close out because some guests are leaving is inconvenient and could reduce overall sales and tips for staff. Customer service should always prioritize fairness—charging guests for a drink they did not order or consume is unacceptable. I hope Kooky PV takes these points into consideration for future customers. While I’ve enjoyed visiting in the past, I can’t support a business that handles billing...
Read moreI have been here about 4 times. Two of them have been very disappointing. Had to put this out there just because of the way I feel I was treated. When we first got there I knew what song I wanted to sing so I gave it to the person with a tip and my song selection sheet. My name never was selected to sing. People were singing 2 and 3 times before I went up to see what was going on. They told me they did not have my song. It was Daniel, from Elton John. Who doesn't have that song! I was probably lied to. I asked if I could just use my 2nd song that was 9 down in list. They said ok and put my third song to replace where my second song was in the order 9 back in the order behind my son. So I sang next. Then waited 9 songs and neither of us were called. 10 songs - 12 songs 18 songs later we were still not up. Went back up to see where we wer in the order and still had 6 songs to wait. Other singers sang an average of six times to our one. Except for the other a group of Americans that were there. The only people that they were being fair to you were the Mexican nationals that were there for New Years Week. I like to leave positive reviews about places I frequent, but this was so glaringly obvious that they were not allowing us to sing that I had...
