Hi everybody...My wife and I are retired teachers and we live in California and received our final vaccination by the middle of February and immediately planned a trip for a month in Puerto Vallarta. We actually stayed in an apartment above this wonderful restaurant for the entire month. Everyday, as we left and returned to our apartment, these incrediable smells would surround us....so we, of course, had to give the restaurant a try...Over the course of a month we probably had over 10 meals there and tried nearly everything on the menu...Each meal was a "10" every time....We stuck to seafood...incredibly fresh...mostly, but had delicious steaks more than once...Every part of every meal was amazing. And....the apartment was perfect also....and the family that owns the restaurant owns the apartment and they also live in the same building...It was the best of all possible worlds.....to stay in a lovely apartment for a month and to eat downstairs whenever we wanted....The family is amazing and we can't wait to return next year...and , if you're looking for a great place to stay....you can't do much better than their apartment...Give it a try...
Read moreI stopped in the Rio Grande for some coffee and a fruit plate with yogurt and granola. The coffee was good and in a large mug. The fruit consisted of only cantelope in a bowl, not a variety of fruit as I expected. The yogurt was plain, which is ok, but the granola appeared to be mostly chia seeds with some flakes of granola. Neither was very good but mixed together wasn't too bad. They had WiFi so I could do some reading and emails. The decor is traditional Mexican with some nice art on the walls. Also, they do not allow dogs inside which is why we have never had dinner here. There are a couple of table out on the sidewalk but the noise from the passing traffic and buses makes it intolerable. Many, many places will allow our small dog to sit at our feet while we eat (he is about 16 lbs) so we can be selective about where we go. Overall this is a nice place for a quiet meal but I haven't experienced their...
Read moreService was very friendly and fast. They let us mix the tacos of 3. That should be actually a menu option, because we want to taste different things. We had fish, marlin and crab. Fish was overcooked. Marlin tasted like it was mixed with ketchup. Crab was ok. The presentation of the food on the plate was not very impressive, actually one of the weakest I had in PVR. For the price we paid (160/ 3 pieces), the tacos were quite small. They were not bad bad, just would not call them "delicious" or "best meal I ever had in Mexico". The green salsa that came as a side was the star of the meal. It was really good. We also wanted to taste their tostadas, but after the tortillas decided not to. + on the menu was only the option to order 3 of them. It would be nice to make it possible to order just 1. We also had Margarita. Tequilla used in it tasted bit cheap, but... there was a lot of it, so the drink was...
