Hi everybody...My wife and I are retired teachers and we live in California and received our final vaccination by the middle of February and immediately planned a trip for a month in Puerto Vallarta. We actually stayed in an apartment above this wonderful restaurant for the entire month. Everyday, as we left and returned to our apartment, these incrediable smells would surround us....so we, of course, had to give the restaurant a try...Over the course of a month we probably had over 10 meals there and tried nearly everything on the menu...Each meal was a "10" every time....We stuck to seafood...incredibly fresh...mostly, but had delicious steaks more than once...Every part of every meal was amazing. And....the apartment was perfect also....and the family that owns the restaurant owns the apartment and they also live in the same building...It was the best of all possible worlds.....to stay in a lovely apartment for a month and to eat downstairs whenever we wanted....The family is amazing and we can't wait to return next year...and , if you're looking for a great place to stay....you can't do much better than their apartment...Give it a try...

I stopped in the Rio Grande for some coffee and a fruit plate with yogurt and granola. The coffee was good and in a large mug. The fruit consisted of only cantelope in a bowl, not a variety of fruit as I expected. The yogurt was plain, which is ok, but the granola appeared to be mostly chia seeds with some flakes of granola. Neither was very good but mixed together wasn't too bad. They had WiFi so I could do some reading and emails. The decor is traditional Mexican with some nice art on the walls. Also, they do not allow dogs inside which is why we have never had dinner here. There are a couple of table out on the sidewalk but the noise from the passing traffic and buses makes it intolerable. Many, many places will allow our small dog to sit at our feet while we eat (he is about 16 lbs) so we can be selective about where we go. Overall this is a nice place for a quiet meal but I haven't experienced their...

Service was very friendly and fast. They let us mix the tacos of 3. That should be actually a menu option, because we want to taste different things. We had fish, marlin and crab. Fish was overcooked. Marlin tasted like it was mixed with ketchup. Crab was ok. The presentation of the food on the plate was not very impressive, actually one of the weakest I had in PVR. For the price we paid (160/ 3 pieces), the tacos were quite small. They were not bad bad, just would not call them "delicious" or "best meal I ever had in Mexico". The green salsa that came as a side was the star of the meal. It was really good. We also wanted to taste their tostadas, but after the tortillas decided not to. + on the menu was only the option to order 3 of them. It would be nice to make it possible to order just 1. We also had Margarita. Tequilla used in it tasted bit cheap, but... there was a lot of it, so the drink was...

Absolutely great!!! We saw someone else's plate and immediately sat down. We sat outside the restaurant and had top notch service. For dinner we had shrimp wrapped with cheese and bacon, tender pork ribs with baked potato topped with cheese, steamed veggies and rice. Soooo good. The service is by far the best we have had in Puerto Vallarta. They took our picture for us, and came several times to check on us. At the end, one of the waiters told us that next time we came and wanted something that wasn't on the menu, that we can tell him what we want to eat and that they would make it for us. Rio Grande has been in business for 36 years. The owner came to our table on boxes up our huge portion of leftovers. We definitely know why they have been in business for 36 years

Unprepossessing place with amazing food. Popular with locals for a reason... Large portions of delicious dishes. Even the ubiquitous guacamole (everywhere in PV) was outstanding. They are known for their giant prawns wrapped bacon (mummy style on the menu) which both of us had. I ordered mine with BBQ pork ribs... Also outstanding. While we were eating, a waiter came by with one of their enormous family-style mariscos platters -- mixed seafood -- which looked so incredible I almost followed him out to the outdoor table where he served it. For food alone, I'd have scored 5 stars, but the venue is very basic, so that lost them one star, nearly made up for by the warm and attentive service.

The food was so good...I'm writing this review still sitting in the restaurant! Had Surf and Turf, it came with 1.5 nice sized lobster tails, 3 butterfly Shrimp and a very tender and tasty flank steak. Wife had Almond Fish...WOW All the food in PV has been good! However...some places really stand out and this one is Outstanding. Friendly, mature waiters. The Breaded Shrimp appetizers are just Delicious. We have travelled all over the world and when we find something very special it gets a review. Love the sidewalk or inside dining options as well. We have a new Seafood favorite! Try it!
