Feb 2025 We had some guests with us and they wanted authentic Mexican food. So, we decided to revisit Maria Jimenez, which never disappoints us.

I called to make reservations, and when we arrived we were quickly seated. Our service was great, and our server and the staff took really good care of us.

We ordered our drinks, which varied from beer to margaritas. We ordered our food, some plates were split amongst the group, and then some dessert.

All of the food was tasty and as good as the last time I visited about 1 year ago. Since we were celebrating with our guests, we opted to have mariachi's play some songs. These people play well and work for tips, so please treat them kindly.

I've added some additional photos to this post and hope your experience is as good as mine.

Jan 2024 It's definitely a must visit place for local owned and authentic Mexican food cuisine. We have been visiting this place for at least 5 years.

This is a cash ONLY establishment, so be mindful of this requirement. It is also recommended that reservations are made as high tourist times can present availability issues. Finally, they are closed on Mondays. Final note, they only serve black beans. I note this in case you are used to dining on brown refried beans.

We arrived for our party of 5 and were seated. After ordering, a small bean & cheese, in a homemade flour, eatable holder, for a pre-meal temptation is served. Just enjoy it. If you're still hungry before your meal, order some tortilla chips and guacamole. They have 3 sauces, but if these aren't spicy enough, ask for the hot stuff.

We ordered enchiladas in the various chicken, shrimp, and beef options. Additionally, chicken fajitas were ordered. We also ordered dessert - the chocolate cake with ice cream and the apple strudel with ice cream. I would recommend the chocolate cake option of these two, or I think the traditional flan is also available.

Parking is very limited, so walk, bus or taxi is best. If you are lucky, you may find a parking spot within a block - look in...

Recommended by the hotel we’re staying at. Arrived for a late lunch / early dinner, seated promptly in the bright and colorful dining room, it was cooled only by fans on a very hot June day, but I found it comfortable once we settled in and had some margaritas in hand.

The service was very friendly, accommodating of my poor attempt at Spanish and thankfully spoke English, and the menu has English as well.

We started with guacamole and chips, I had the chile relleno arrachera and my partner enjoyed the queso enchiladas rojas, and we had some margaritas and Pacificos.

We were served a little appetizer of simple bean sopesitos that were quite tasty and a nice little surprise before the entrees arrived.

The chile relleno (pictured) is now amongst my top 10 meals ever, and I would come back to Cabo just to get it again.

The sauce was magical, bright and vibrant, perfectly complementing the pepper and flank steak, which was cooked to absolute perfection, amazingly tender and full of flavor.

I would skip the guacamole as an appetizer next time, it was very good but most entrees come with a healthy dollop of it anyway.

The fresh fruit margarita was very refreshing and not overly sweet.

I would have happily stayed for dessert but I devoured the enormous chile in its entirety, and my partner was full from enjoying half of his enchiladas, so we will have to try the sweets next time.

The meal came to ~1600mx w/tip for the two of us with a few drinks; not the most or least expensive meal of the trip, but definitely the most enjoyable. The establishment is cash only, accepting...

CAUTION: Current Google rating does NOT equal reality! 3-Apr-19 arrived about 5:30pm to 20% full restaurant and 50% full when we left. Service is 1 star only, food 3-4. Arrived not to hello or good evening but do do you have reservation. We said no, he turned, went inside, talked with someone, came to get us, took to table. NOT EVEN CLOSE to friendly. Waitress was NOT friendly in any way (she was RUDE). Comments like 'what do you want to order', and NEVER came back unless I waved at her. When I did get her back, her attitude was TERRIBLE. It was like the person that sat us and waitress did not want us there. The kid who brought food, drinks, picked up dishes, was FANTASTIC. THEY USED BILL TO ATTEMPT TO RIP US OFF! The bill presented to us had 595 MX Peso converted by them to $35 USD which = 17 MX Peso to $1 USD. Current exchange rate at resort is 19.1 MX Peso and credit card is giving 19.5. Too many great and truly friendly restaurants in Cabo to...

Bumped into this authentic place where it seems the locals eat wasn’t too busy so stopped in. The ladies make the fresh tortilla out front, and the space inside looks small but there is a much larger room in the back. You get a sope on the house, which is really nice, I ordered the chiles rellenos - if you aren’t sure what to get, go with this. They can be made a lot of different ways, this is a green long pepper stuffed, I went with shrimp, and the pepper was breaded (think eggplant Parmesan). Ordered the reindeer flan for dessert . Love flan. Anyways if you’re looking for a non-pretentious authentic dining experience, off the resort, and the tourist strip, this spot is totally worth it. A few speak very good English, they have WiFi, and cash only. Will def return in my next trip.
