Went here in January for dinner and lunch. OMG it was sooooo good. You have to go here if you like the real deal. The chef is from India, and that explains why it was so good. Of course, you have to get the Nan bread. Oddly, there is no dipping bowls for the Nan like there is here in Orlando. Get the chicken and your eyes won't tear up. Get the beef if you like your food insanely hot. I dared to try the beef, but I won't do it again. Prices are similar to Florida prices which I think is unrealistic in Merida. Materials to make the meal are cheaper in Merida than in Florida. So there really is no excuse for the inflated prices. The rice was not hot, by the way, for lunch or dinner. Not a big deal when its 85 degrees outside. But if it was cold outside, I would want really warm food. Come here with your girlfriend and eat some really good food from India. Located in a very safe part of Merida. Adequate street lighting and frequent police drive-by's. I don't give out 5 stars very often, but their is not doubt, this one I would not hesitate to give 5 stars. Portion size has doubled on the meat since I first ate here. I was unable to finish the bowl of chicken. It probably needs to be slightly smaller. A simple scale to weigh the chicken or beef should fix the serving size. These reviews seem to make a big difference. I went a few days ago and the place was filled. He is going to have a very successful restaurant. You will probably need reservations in the...
Read moreI cannot say enough about the atmosphere and service. The staff were kind and helpful. However, I'm very confused by the previous reviews of the food. I wonder if our experience was starkly different because my family is vegetarian?
We ordered the madras mixture and it was something that came straight out of a store bought bag. We also got the pineapple chutney and pita bread and the bread was served cold and untoasted. It tasted like dough being dipped into an oddly sour chutney. The vegetable pakora dough mix was tasty enough but by making the pieces very small, the dough feels too thick.
When we ordered the mains (aloo mutter, paneer malasa, and Palak dal), they tasted average but the texture was poor. Everything was watery and the paneer was really soft/undercooked. The breakthrough was the Lassi, which was great and filling. The basmati little India was tasty but technically, the rice type was not basmati.
I know the chef is likely trying his best, and perhaps the meat dishes are significantly better. I really hope that today was just an off day - wishing them the...
Read moreI'm going to start by saying that quality of food in all means: it has NOTHING to relate meals to Indians food. NOT even close to street food from India which I would say it would be better from street of India than this restaurant.
Food has no flavor and its not close to be Indian food. (Only the guy who prepares it). Tasteless food with lack of ingredients from india. It funny to read a comment where they say they bring all ingredients from India. Waiter was super really decent and coradially. (The only good thing). 4 naan it doesn't look at all like a naan. 5 for this prices I will suggest to better go to other restaurant and enjoy a great meal. 6 the value of the place, nothing to do with the advertising. I think people say it's an awesome restaurant, because they dont know about the real Indian food. 8 I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE. 9 raita was horrible. 10 samosas were like mexican empanadas made from corn flour package. Empanadas are better than...
