On December 29, 2024, I had the opportunity to visit Azulisimo, a restaurant I had been following with great enthusiasm on Instagram since I live in Montreal. Growing up in Mexico, I have a deep appreciation for local cuisine, so I arrived with high expectations. Unfortunately, the experience did not live up to what I had hoped for.
The only thing that really stood out during our visit was the restaurant’s décor and the dishware, which were visually stunning. The Catrinas used to serve the tortilla soup were a unique and attractive touch. However, this was not enough to salvage a culinary experience that left much to be desired.
Starting with the tortilla soup, it was served cold and half-filled, which was puzzling. We were a party of four, and the tortilla service was lacking: we had to ask multiple times, and for some reason, they never brought more than three tortillas at once. In a Mexican restaurant, this should be a basic offering.
The service from the waiter was another disappointing aspect. His attitude was quite arrogant and unprofessional. It felt as though asking for tortillas was a bother to him, which made the experience even less enjoyable.
In summary, Azulisimo is an overrated restaurant that fails to live up to the expectations set by its presence on Instagram and its social media image. The dining experience and service leave much to be desired. It's unfortunate, because the concept seemed promising, but in this case, it did not deliver. There are certainly many other places in Mexico City where the food and service are far more satisfying...
Read moreWe went to azulísimo recently as we came across the restaurant on Instagram. The pictures on Instagram looked incredible so we decided to give it a go. When we arrived we were seated at a very bad table, Which prompted us to change tables. The service was 0/10. The waitresses were very rude and seemed to be on a rush all the time and in a bad mood. We ordered the mixiote de carnero which didn’t come with any sides other than beans. It seemed like it had been cooked on a big pot and just put on the mixiote paper for serving. My boyfriend had the green salsa con verdolagas and pork belly, the pork belly itself was good but the salsa con verdolagas had 5 leaves of verdolagas ?!?!?!? Practically no verdolagas. The guacamole was good but overpriced for what it was. Overall everything was very overpriced and did not live up to our expectations. There are several other restaurants around downtown within the same price tag with excellent service and food for example el balcón del zocalo, has always been exceptional. Azulísimo just has a very good marketing team, the food does not live up to the...

Probably the worst dining experience I’ve had on vacation. I am typing this as I sit here.
First of all, the waiter took over 10 minutes to come take our order, only to leave while I was telling him my order. Then, his coworker came over to ask us for our order. My friend ordered the sauté shrimp. Coconut shrimp comes out. She tells him that’s not what she ordered and he proceeds to gaslight her saying that she should have waited for him to order, and then says that the only difference between the two dishes is that one comes with pico de gallo. After going back and forth with the other waiter and his manager, he finally acknowledges they brought out the wrong dish.
Besides the bad service, the food was SO MID. The guacamole takes like store bought guac from Costco. The cocktail we got had ZERO taste of alcohol. The tamale was so bland. The Peneque was soggy and tough. I will...
