Barro Mestizo — Restaurant in Mexico City

If you're a foreigner, avoid this place. Waiter saw I was a foreigner and tried to get me to spend more. He pushed the regular menu, but when I asked for the (cheaper) menu del dia, he got annoyed and reluctantly gave it to me. He claimed that all the least inexpensive dishes were sold out, even though I heard the table nearby ordering then. He then pushed the most expensive thing on the menu del dia. I said yes because he highly recommended it. When I realized the high price and tried to change my order one minute later, he claimed he couldn't change it. Really? He couldn't talk to the cooks to change it? It's my fault for not checking the price before ordering it, but the waiter's behavior is still annoying and exploitative. Then he had the audacity to ask for a tip. I gave one because I'm a nice person, he didn't even say thank you, goodbye, or good day. Terrible service, food is nothing special. Never going back, don't recommend this place especially...

I chose this restaurant because it was near by my hostel. The staff was nice and accepted we took the food to go. It was a bit long to be served but we chilled in the restaurant which is pretty nice with a nice skylight and plants! Sadly, when we get to eat our food, we discovered what it really was... I am really not someone difficult and I could say it was no good. It's the first time I write that in a review. They probably have some great food... But my friend and I didn't chose those! Queso quesadillas y enchiladas con salsa verde... :/ the papas a la francesa was good though! If you go there, ask their specialties to be sure to have...

Ya llevaba tiempo que hiba comer ahí, digo hiba por que no pienso volver a ir. Jamás tuve problemas con quedarme un bien rato ahí, incluso le he preguntado a las meseras qué si me puedo quedar un rato más. Hoy fui a comer y termine, solo esperaba a que me trajeran el postre y no me lo traían y la mesera me preguntaba si estaba todo en orden y yo les decía que si. Al chico rato de que no me traían el postre me pregunta la mesera que si me traía la cuenta y ahí fue que le dije que me faltaba el postre, me dijo que ya no había. El cual le dije que entonces me trajera unos plátanos fritos., se fue y se volvió a tardar, hasta que la que esta en la caja fue a decirme que si me traían sandia de postre por que plátanos no había. Le dije que si, me lo trajeron y me los comí con calma. Y cuando me lo acabe, decidí quedarme otro rato, pues siempre que hiba me quedo un buen rato ahi y nunca me dieron nada. Pues en ese rato viene a mi mesa la señora que esta en la caja a cobrarme sin que yo pidiera la cuenta. Si me moleste, por que a mi me agardaba estar ahí un buen rato sentado, mientras aprovecho en WiFi y sentí que me estaba corriendo cobrándome. Y le dije que se cobrará y que no hiba a dejar propina por que se tardaron en traerme el postre y no me dijeron que no había y que tampoco había pedido el postre que había pedido y de que la mesera me quería dar la cuenta sin pedirlo y que me corrieran cobrandome. Me graban más los chicos que trabajan...
