We had dinner at NYE and they have asked us to spend ~4,000 Pesos for a pre determined menu. But why is that a 1 star experience?
Upon arrival we have seen multiple tables ordering à la carte. An option no one told us about. When we asked whether we can get an alternative for one of the options, they have shown 0 flexibility (even though we have chosen something cheaper).
The day before we have been to Quintonil, where you pay 4,100 Pesos for a 10-course menu. Even though you should not compare those two restaurants and events (NYE vs. regular), the price tag sets kind of an expectation. Our first dish was a scampi and foie gras - despite the head of the scampi was peeled off already, you needed to peel almost the entire rest. You would expect that only the tail would still need be to peeled. The foie gras was fine. The second dish was by far the worst - risotto with scallops. I had high expectations since it is one of my favorite dishes. The disappointment was quite high, when the risotto was still too hard and the scallops were completely overcooked and it was simply too difficult to chew anything. The third dish was a wagyu filet. While the top side was slightly done-medium, the bottom side was done. Who does that to such a special piece of meat? The desserts were okay in the end.
When it comes to service, they tried their best. However, one particular experience needs to be shared. For one of my dishes they gave me new cutlery. When I turned on the camera light, I recognized that it was used already for cutting something like butter. How is that possible? And how do you not recognize this?
Furthermore, we were placed far away from where the action took place…
Overall, the menu was well too overpriced and asking ~8,000 Pesos for two persons for such a menu is a disgrace. I really need to reevaluate before going back to Bagatelle (usually a safe spot on my list). And Bagatelle should reevaluate their prices for such an event. It is easy: when you ask top notch prices, you need to deliver top...
Read moreFood was way subpar. Definitely does not match the price tag. They put mayo on the beef tartar and the sea bass carpaccio, the dishes were basic, the rest of the stuff did not impress. If you're going to this place to eat you'll be disappointed, especially when you see the price tag. Furthermore, the service was friendly in the beginning but it was just a guise to throw more stuff on the bill than was ordered. When we argued about a couple items with Eduardo, he accused me of being drunk. I don't know if he gets a commission from what he does but if so that would make sense, he definitely seemed like he's played this scam before. Other than that, the place is loud and is a party. That's the only reason one should go if you want that, but after this experience I have a bad taste in my mouth about Bagatelle in general and will never go there again no matter what city it's in. There are plenty of places that have good atmosphere and food that won't hire scam artists that are...
