Buvette México — Restaurant in Mexico City

Horrible service! As we arrived we were let know that poached eggs were unavailable. We were told it was due a technical issue. How ridiculous that they are a freshly opened location and aren’t prepared enough to never deal with something like that to happen especially during breakfast hours? Our waitress was extremely rude and inattentive. I had asked for the wifi password as they only gave us the QR menu. The lady told me the wifi was for employees only. As if I would be showing up every day just to use their wifi? It wasn’t until after her disgusting attitude toward me did she give me a physical menu like she could have from the beginning. We had to constantly ask for her attention as she never came to check on us, sometimes blatantly ignoring us! Worst of all, she proceeded to include a 15% tip without asking! Being from New York and having visited the Buvette here, I expected the service to be just as amazing but I was highly mistaken. Food came extremely late as well. 15 minutes for our coffees. My new favorite place for coffee, French pastries, and light breakfast in Roma Norte. Located just steps away from the beautiful "Plaza Luis Cabrera" park.

The restaurant has a very well executed French-themed atmosphere with seating indoors and outdoors. Super attentive and professional waitstaff. Evidently someone is doing a great job at managing this place!

Lunch and dinner are also offered, but I've not yet gotten to taste it. Will update this review after I do so.

Gone back two nights in-a-row to try their specials. First I tried the burger. The next night their onion soup.

With both dishes I was quite pleased and I highly recommend them! The burger can be prepped with your choice of cheese. Ask for options.

OMG!!! Their escargot is to die for--and I've had it both in Paris and Quebec City! And let me tell you... They do a pretty darn...

Habíamos tenido oportunidad de visitar Buvette en NY y la experiencia había sido satisfactoria, por eso decidimos ir aquí en CDMX, en la colonia Roma. Desafortunadamente la experiencia no fue igual de buena que en NY, si bien no fue del todo malísima, si deja se queda un poco a medio camino.

Pedimos un menú especial de San Valentín, que incluía 3 tiempos y una copa de vino tinto por MXN$490 y nos pareció un precio bastante atractivo. De primer tiempo pedimos la sopa de cebolla que no era mala, pero si estaba pasada de sal. De segundo no había opciones, solo había la hamburguesa de la casa (Grand Burger, el nombre prometía, perooooo...) que supuestamente tenía como característica especial que llevaba queso Roquefort (que debió tener muy, muy, muy poco; porque prácticamente no se detectaba su sabor) y llevaba papás paja como acompañamiento, al menos eso decía en su publicación de IG, pero resultaron ser papas a la francesa comunes y aparentemente congeladas; en general la hamburguesa no tenía un sabor completamente desagradable, pero en definitiva no cumplió del todo con las expectativas y además la carne estaba seca (y eso que la pedí 3/4). Para cerrar el menú incluía de postre tarte tatin y éste si fue un deleite y estaba igual de rica que la que habíamos probado en NY.

De beber, además de la copa de merlot que incluía el menú de San Valentín, pedimos Gin Tonic (que estaba bien servido) y Aperol Spritz que es uno de mis favoritos por ser ligero, sin embargo era una copa muy pequeña comparada con el estándar en la mayoría de los restaurantes y con un costo de MXN$170 (por éste mismo precio, incluso menos he tomado Aperol Spritz muy bien servidos y en copa estándar, no tan pequeña como la de Buvette).

El lugar estaba prácticamente vacío, éramos tres mesas de como 20 que hay (afuera y adentro) y mucha gente pasaba, se detenía a ver y al final no se animaban a quedarse y no es que el lugar sea feo, simplemente no se siente un ambiente cálido.

En resumen no creo volver y si llegara a hacerlo sería sólo para tomar una taza de café y una rebanada de tarte tatin; sólo eso.

Por cierto los baños estaban bastante sucios (los WC) y eso que el restaurante estaba vacío, como estarán cuándo el restaurante...
