Where can I start with our experience at Centanni. We had dinner June 22nd 2023 where we sat at the terrace of the restaurant. Behind us sat a group which was celebrating their birthday. In this group was the owner of the restaurant. The owner of Centanni was was hosting his friends for their birthdays. Which was completely fine with us. As the night progressed we noticed that the wait staff started to not pay attention to our table but only to the owners friends and him. Our food came out which was not in the least Italian. The pizza was mediocre and the fettuccine was not seasoned and was not the best. The owner and his friends continued to celebrate. In the middle of our dinner a whole production of lighting, and three photographers show up to take pictures of the group. These were professional photographers from the restaurant. They setup their lighting right behind my chair, the whole wait staff was burning out lights, champagne and we were completely ignored. I could not even leave my seat without knocking out the lights they placed behind my chair. It boggled my mind that they would do such when you having paying customers waiting to be served. The owner was only concerned for his friends and the production he was putting on for them. It was so ridiculous we stopped our dinner, paid, left without finishing our meal. I am not sure if this is how owners of restaurant in Mexico work but just poorly demonstrates the tasteless attitude of an owner that should be concerned of the paying guest Vs his own ego. Will never recommend this to anyone. If you come be...
Read moreWe came here for the opening. The space is prime, to be sure. They have multiple spaces, each perfectly appointed: a speakeasy, a live performance space (I believe the plan is to host live bands Tuesday through Friday nights), a rooftop. The service was excellent, but that's what you'd expect at a restaurant opening. There was abundant staffing, and they catered to every request without hesitation. The food, however, was essentially bar food: pizza, burger, chips, etc. They tried to fancy it up, but you can't really do that with pizza at this level. I would definitely come here for a casual after-work snack, happy hour, etc. Overall, it's a good place. It'll be interesting to see whether this place takes off. I can't comment on pricing since the opening was gratis for all food and drink. I intend to return -- it's proximity to Lincoln Park makes that easy to do -- but I don't think I'd ever endeavor to go here if it weren't so convenient. That's not a comment on the quality. It's just a personal taste. But if a group of friends were meeting there, I'd happily join. Overall, a great...
Read moreWe came out of our way for this restaurant because they have multiple reviews about their gluten free options. Upon walking in, the hostess immediately asked about allergies and I mentioned gluten for my husband as he has celiacs. We were sat down, ordered water and wine but at this point the server informs us that they are out of gluten free pastas. So obviously because of this we cannot eat here anymore, but we were still stuck with a bill for wine and water, which we chugged so we could leave to find a meal we could eat. Would have been nice if we have informed of this immediately. We walked 3 minutes down the street to Nonsolo and they did have gluten free pastas. Anyways, it was probably for the best the menu seemed a little overpriced and the restaurant was...
