A Hidden Gem for Dining and Mexican Author Drinks If you’re looking for a place that combines a vibrant atmosphere, mouthwatering dishes, and unique Mexican author drinks, this spot is a must-visit! From the moment you walk in, the energy of the place is contagious, with warm lighting and a modern take on traditional Mexican decor. The menu is a delightful journey through Mexican flavors with a contemporary twist. Each dish is crafted with care and creativity, showcasing bold flavors and fresh ingredients. They’re nothing short of spectacular. The highlight for me was the drinks. The mixologists here are true artists, elevating traditional Mexican cocktails with innovative ingredients and techniques. The mezcal-based drinks were especially memorable—perfectly balanced with smoky and citrusy notes. The service was impeccable, with the staff going above and beyond to ensure a memorable experience. They are knowledgeable about the menu and offer great recommendations tailored to your preferences. Whether you’re here for a casual dinner or a night out with friends, this place is an absolute delight. I can’t wait to come back!

Wow, we were so lucky to have found Colmado! The owners were so welcoming throughout the evening, helping us with recommendations and fun facts about this cozy hidden gem. The food was DELICIOUS!!! So much so that we ordered three rounds of food: roasted elote-inspired fried corn "ribs" which were perfectly caramelized, the melt-in-your mouth braised tongue taco, the decadent suckling pig taco...second round was the octopus taco, followed by the finale: their cheese empanadas! Definitely don't skip these because folded into the molten cheese is an herb called hoja santa or "holy leaf" that you can only find in Mexico. Very unique (you have to try it for yourself) and just what we needed to recover from a night of strong drinks! The design of their space made our mouths drop, but the highlight of the evening besides the food was the thoughtful service and great conversation. What a special experience!! 10/10!!!!

We grabbed the last two spots at the cozy bar and the owner greeted us to tell us they aren’t actually open yet. They were hosting friends and family but invited us to join anyway. The staff and other guests were so warm and welcoming and the food and drinks were amazing. The mezcal cocktails were flavourful and balanced. We had empanadas, tacos, calamari and a corn hummus dish, all of which were spectacular. Every dish is gluten free so it’s a perfect spot for people with celiac disease. Beautiful space, great food and drink and lovely people, don’t miss this spot!

Our recent dinner at Colmado in Roma Norte was nothing short of a revelation. This intimate, mezcal-focused gem celebrates Mexico’s culinary heritage with a particular emphasis on heirloom corn—a theme that shines through every thoughtfully curated detail. From the first sip to the final bite, the experience was a masterclass in craftsmanship and flavor.

The mezcal selection alone warrants a visit, featuring one of the smoothest, most nuanced expressions we’ve ever encountered. Paired with meticulously crafted cocktails, the small plates elevated the evening further. Standouts included the empanadas, made with house-masa sourced from fermented corn—a process that imparted a delicate crispness and earthy richness to each golden shell. We sampled every variety, and each offered its own harmonious blend of textures and flavors.

Equally memorable was the octopus taco, where tender, perfectly charred tentacles met a bright, citrus-kissed garnish—a dish that epitomized balance. Every element felt intentional, from the vibrant ingredients to the warm, convivial ambiance that invited lingering over conversation.

By the end of the evening, it was clear: Colmado isn’t just a meal, but a celebration of Mexican terroir and tradition. It easily ranked among our top dining experiences during our week in CDMX, and we’re already plotting our return. For those visiting, embrace the adventure—order widely, sip slowly, and let each dish transport you. An absolute must for anyone seeking cuisine that honors both...
