When traveling I like to find a cafe or diner to frequent and in Roma Norte, Deseo was a great fit for my family. Menus were offered in Spanish and English plus some of the servers were bilingual. Even the staff members who weren't bilingual were very patient with us while we translated during ordering and paying. The cafe atmosphere is cute, cozy, laid back and unapologetically feminine. Whether you're looking for coffee, pastries, Mexican food or traditional breakfast found in the states, you can guarantee you'll find it here. I tried an array of their coffee options and found the aeropress to be my favorite. If you like your coffee strong and with a medley of notes, you'll love it too! They also serve a mean chilaquiles that'll open up your sinuses and the crunchiest waffles I've had in years. They even served the waffles with real maple syrup and that's terribly difficult to come by these days. Care and attention to detail paired with organic ingredients left me very satisfied during each visit. They have a steady flow of customers and don't really get crowded until Sunday brunch time, but regardless of the crowd you get the same consistent service. My only critique is the eggs weren't seasoned, but no restaurant seems to do that anymore, plus a pre-mix of salt and pepper was delivered promptly when requested. I suggest adding a bit of onion and garlic powder during preparation and the eggs would be...
Read moreWent there for a quick brunch with a friend. I had a berry granola bowl, tres leches french toast and a dirty chai latte, while my friend had a spinach omelette, caramel french toast and an americano. Granola bowl and omelette were really good, french toasts were ok but a bit dry and bland (and not too sweet, which was good because the chai latte was way too sweet for my taste). The place is very small, but they also have a couple of tables outside, and we didn't have to wait for the table too long (maybe 5ish minutes), even though it was full when we came. The waiter was also polite and friendly. And a big plus was that the staff speaks English and the cafe has an English menu, which in my experience is not that common in...
Read moreSad to report one of my fave restaurants allowed two servers and a bus boy decide how to sit people, I don’t expect much but I don’t expect to be sat at a table facing the walk, I gave a wife with 4 kids and in Mexico they try to push you to patio or outside where everyone smokes. Unfortunately a poor mindset and worker bee decide we would take our hungry stomachs elsewhere. Next time someone with common sense and can do math, should realize how often those tickets walk in to have breakfast. Disappointed because the restaurant concept, coffee and food are great. Better staff who is more accommodating and not frustrated to be there would improve the place. We always had ones of the gals who are...
