The most important part of this review is of the staff who are perfectly helpful, kind, and attentive. We had a morning flight but check in isn't until 3pm (seems like most places there do). They let us keep our bags there in a locked room and then checked us in about an hour early). Any problem I had with my stay was down to design flaws with the hotel itself.
No windows in the hotel room and we didn't realize it until we had already paid. That's weird, right? Why wouldn't they be clear about that in their ads or photos? We had two panels that looked like windows but they were opaque and didn't open.
Only 1 small rubbish bin for two adults and it was in the bathroom.
No mini fridge. I couldn't buy food to keep in the room because there was no way to keep it cold. That meant room temp bottled water! Couldn't keep sodas or my own almond milk to drink or buy chocolates to take home because it got too hot in there, which brings the 4th point:
The AC unit vented directly onto the bed which completely dried me out in my sleep. Not such a big deal, but..why?
We both got sick and couldn't really leave the room long enough to have it cleaned and so after 24 hours of being violently ill, the room stank terribly (in Mexico you don't flush bathroom paper) and since we couldn't open the non-existent windows and there was no bathroom fan or vent, we subsequently felt awful and just had to deal with it ourselves.
The breakfast is good for most omnivores except me. They offer chilaquiles (basic nachos), chorizo and eggs, beans, dry cereal (dairy milk and wheat products only), and a very small fruit plate with maybe 5 or 6 slices of fruit. Coffee/tea/juice as well. I don't drink dairy milk and can't have wheat or eggs, so I couldn't really take advantage of that. It would have been nice to have a mini fridge in the room for this reason as well.
Really dim lighting in the rooms. Coming back midday for a little rest always turned into a nap because even with the fake window light, it still got very cave-like in there.
Not a lot of solid surfaces to put things like bathroom products on. I'm disabled with a spinal condition, and so bending down whilst in the shower to pick up soap, shampoo, razor, etc is really dangerous for me. The sink is on a slatted kind of shelf and the window sills are narrow.
Again, the staff were really helpful and delightful. Words of advice: if you are from the States and need your covid test for your return flight, don't book it through the hotel. There's a no appointment necessary clinic like 2 blocks away called Olabs. 30 minute results, about $25. Go to the small grocery store/farmacia around the corner (not the oxxo minimart or the actual pharmacy) and buy some air freshener, bum wipes, and...
Read moreI have worked in travel for 9 years and stayed in everywhere from youth hostels to 5* hotels and this is by far the worst stay I've had a hotel. The pros are the location is fantastic and the decor is very trendy and cute.
I recommend avoiding this hotel because 1. It is not clean 2. It is incredibly noisy 3. The service is terrible.
When I first arrived I was given a tiny room with no workspace (as advertised on the website). I paid extra to upgrade to a room with a desk. Upon check in the room was filthy. There was food and toenail clippings on the floor and I had to request twice to have it cleaned before someone came. My friend checked into her room and she walked into another guests room. His laptop and belongings were out and she was given full access.
During my two week stay I had to request toilet paper 6 times, fresh towels 5 times and although I asked 3 times my sheets weren't changed for a week and my bed was remade with the dirty sheets.
The WiFi doesn't work in the rooms or the terrace and the concrete nature of the building makes phone signal poor also. My TV didn't work and the power outlets at the desk or common work area also didn't work.
This hotel is incredibly loud. There is construction happening in all surrounding buildings and the central hallway is like an echo chamber. I ended up purchasing sleep medicine and ear plugs because the noise is constant.
After one week in this hotel I wanted to leave, the cleanliness and noise disruptions were a major concern. The hotel staff refused to allow me to check out early even though I had a refundable rate. They said that the issues with the noise "isn't our problem" and they made no attempt to fix the WiFi or cleaning issues.
This is a gorgeous neighbourhood and there are several hotel and AirBnB options so I would avoid this one at all costs. The discount price is a lure and once they have your money they don't care about your safety...
Read moreDo not stay at this hotel! There are thief in the hotel who will steal your bag at lobby just in front of the security and reception people and the hotel did not take responsibility!
We were at the hotel lobby and waited for the taxi to the airport. There was a hotel security man sit 2 meters away next to us and the front desk people who just helped us to take the suitcase out of the room stood at the reception. We looked at the cellphone and have conversations for just 2 minutes, then one of our backpack disappeared. We immediately asked to check the camera but they did not show us.
We notify the hotel in reception as well as WhatsApp and we have to leave to catch the flight. After I got off the flight, I texted hotel how was the thing going first. (The hotel did not text me first even if they already had an answer. They just wait for me to ask.)The hotel replied by claiming that there were two people who do this frequently. I then asked for checking the camera videos, then the hotel claimed that it needs to ask for security department for permission. 24 hours later, I asked again, the hotel suddenly said that this process needs to undergo a protocol established by the police and they do not have permission to do it.
I have multiple electronic devices in the bag such as iMac computer, earphones, a camera and multiple chargers. It is ridiculous to got stolen in the lobby by a thief while the hotel security and reception people sitting in front us. How is that even possible? And more importantly, the hotel avoid to take responsibility of the lost and all they say is “we will contact you once we have...
