Café Tormenta — Restaurant in Mexico City

CDMX’s most overhyped café stand that is both pricey, with service that came across as rude and overly pretentious. Arriving at the cart, the baristas were more focused on chatting with each other and a customer rather than making drinks. When they finally acknowledged me, I got such a rude stare, as if they were doing me a favor to serve me.

I ordered the Chai Tormenta with Oatly. The extra charge for Oatly was $25, which seemed insane, bringing my total to $100—way above average for a chai. The service was a huge letdown, and it felt like it took forever to get my drink. When my chai finally arrived, it was pretty good—the Oatly and chai itself were delicious and cozy (9/10).

Although this is primarily a takeaway café, there are a few small chairs outside. However, they’re quite uncomfortable, and the location on a super busy street corner—makes it hard to enjoy with people constantly passing by.

The service was by far the biggest negative—pretentious for no reason, and charging $25 for oat milk is just too much. Such a bummer because the chai is one of the better ones I’ve tried in CDMX, but the poor service is a dealbreaker. Extremely overhyped, and for rude service and expensive...

Fui emocionado desde Gdl a conocer Tormenta Café, pues ya había visto el lugar en Instagram y me pareció increíble el concepto y su propuesta. Me tomé la libertad de seguir en Instagram a la chica con el mechón de color ya que parecía super profesional y talentosa y me gustaba que muchas veces comparte historias con un discurso de comunidad, de generosidad y cultura de humanidad, de compartir, de empatia hacia con l@s demás. Incluso haciendo alusión de que esos aspectos son parte de la cultura y valores de TORMENTA. Bajo ese contexto llego muy emocionado al local y TERRIBLE SORPRESA. Me atendió la misma chica y parece OTRA persona completamente diferente, yo no buscaba que nos hiciéramos amigos pero tampoco esperaba tan mal trato de su parte, no tuvo un solo gramo de cortesía... yo también trabajo en una cafetería y tengo 9años siento barista, se perfectamente de que va el trabajo, definitivamente esta chica necesita investigar lo que es Hospitalidad. No se piden las Perlas de la virgen, uno simplemente busca no recibir malas caras o que te vean con asco cuando preguntas algo cuando evidentemente ellos saben que eres nuevo cliente.

OJO TORMENTA CAFÉ, si van a predicar un discurso de comunidad, espacios de inspiración, conexión y se jactan de ser "Catalizadores de encuentros y conversaciones significativas" deben tener personal que realmente vaya con esos valores y que los apliquen día a día, con todos los clientes por igual y no tener personal selectivo que solo apliquen esos valores con la gente que ellos creen merecedores de estos.

Basta de crear discursos falsos para crear conceptos instagrameables.

Menos "Baristas pantalla" y más "Baristas con humanidad genuina"
