As an Indonesian, I had high hopes for this restaurant, but unfortunately, it was a disappointing experience. I read in other reviews that the food is prepared fresh, yet my nasi bungkus took 36 minutes to arrive and was served cold. That alone already raised concerns. For around €12, the portion was quite small (more expensive than nasi bungkus in Europe). It came with only a tiny piece of rendang, a few carrots, and peanuts — not what you’d expect from a proper nasi bungkus. On top of that, I was charged extra for sambal. In Indonesian cuisine, sambal and kecap manis are essential and should never be treated as optional add-ons. Flavor-wise, the dish was underwhelming. It tasted flat, lacking the richness and boldness that Indonesian food is known for. It felt like the focus was more on selling food than actually representing Indonesian culinary culture. The service also didn’t reflect the warm hospitality that’s typical in Indonesia. I had barely put my spoon down when a staff member came to take my plate and immediately asked if I wanted to pay. It felt rushed and impersonal — definitely not the kind of experience I’d expect from a place claiming to serve Indonesian food. Overall, I can’t recommend this restaurant, especially to fellow Indonesians. It didn’t feel authentic, the food was disappointing, and the atmosphere lacked the friendliness we take pride in. Sorry to say, but this was a...
Read moreI recently had the pleasure of dining at Enak, an Indonesian restaurant, and I must say, it exceeded all my expectations. As someone hailing from India and craving Asian cuisine for weeks, I've tried numerous restaurants, but none quite hit the mark until I stumbled upon this hidden gem.
The food presentation was impeccable, and the flavors were simply divine. Despite their limited menu, each dish was bursting with taste and authenticity. Though the preparation took some time, every moment of the wait was worth it. From the first spoonful, my taste buds were tantalized, and I couldn't get enough.
What truly sets Enak apart is not just the food, but also the exceptional service provided. The warmth and kindness shown by the staff, particularly Buk Yuli, who not only prepared the food but also co-owns the restaurant with her husband, made our dining experience truly memorable. Their passion for cooking and genuine care for their customers shines through in every dish.
My friends and I were so delighted with our experience that we've decided to make Enak our go-to spot for dinner during our remaining two weeks here. I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone seeking delicious Indonesian cuisine served with love and dedication.
Overall, Enak offers a delightful culinary journey that leaves you...
Read moreI was born in Indonesia but spent most of my adult life in the USA. Recently, I’ve been living in Mexico for over four years in Morelia. Knowing that there’s at least one Indonesian restaurant four hours away, I couldn’t resist trying this place!
I visited Mexico City for three nights and went to this restaurant twice. The first time, I went alone to try their nasi bungkus. The beef rendang was a bit tough, but still very delicious. I also ordered the shrimps char kwe tiaw to go. To be honest, I was quite disappointed. The noodles weren’t the typical kwe tiaw in Indonesia; they were more like pad thai noodles. I also wished the shrimps didn’t come with their shells and heads… 🤭. But the flavor was good!
On my third day, I took my two friends to try Indonesian food for their first time. They thoroughly enjoyed it. I also enjoyed their noodles pangsit. It was quite delicious! The dessert menu is very limited, so I would recommend going with their appetizers and main courses. I definitely would come back again when I visit Mexico City soon. I highly recommend this restaurant to all my friends who visit Mexico City.
I guess my expectations were very high. The chef, Uli, is super friendly and willing to accept any improvements. That’s...
