Small restaurant located in Roma Norte. The set is meticulously and tastefully decorated. Efforts have been made to create a cosy and lounge atmosphere with warm and wrapping colors. In addition, service staff in the dining room is discrete and attentive. For the mentioned points above, the restaurant deserves 5 stars. However, food was a bit disappointing and pricey regarding the proposed flavors in the plates. We had fried and fresh spring rolls which were delicious, especially with the dips. The green papaya salad was on the other hand too sweet (the green papaya was too ripe) and a squeeze of lime would have been perfect. Appetizers were followed by a pad thai, a phò and a green curry. A balance between sweet and sour taste is what you should expect from a pad thai. This one was too sweet. The phò was a huge disappointment: the broth was not rich, not beefy, the savory hint of fish sauce was missing, the aroma of cinnamon, cloves and star anise was too overwhelming. A handful of fresh herbs could have helped to balance flavors. Finally the green curry was not thick enough: too watery and not enough vermicelli (or rice could have been better) to be dipped in the curry.
Overall, if you are looking for an authentic Vietnamese/Thai flavors you will be disappointed but there is room for improvements (spring rolls were on point. We didn't get to try Banh Mì, another classic, as the kitchen was running...
Read moreI was pleasantly surprised! I'd been craving Thai for weeks and was extremely disappointed by other restaurants. This one was different. They nailed two of my favorite dishes but failed me on the curry.
I arrived at 5pm (am hour before closing) and was quickly seated. I ordered the papaya salad and larb moo. The papaya was spicy and delicious, but sweeter than the normal Thai style. The latter was served hot and with rice. I was expecting it to be a cold dish. Both needed more fish sauce. However, again, best papaya salad I've had in Mexico.
To satisfy my Thai craving, i ordered a curry - the chicken moo grob prik khing. While flavorful, they were SUPER stingy on the sauce. The chicken was more so coated in curry sauce as of its ordered wings. I was also told there was no way to order extra curry sauce. Bummer.
I should note here that they kept taking my silverware in between dishes as though signaling it was time for me to go. I took their hint and ordered my check and the mango and sticky rice to go. The dessert was also delicious.
Will I return?? For the papaya salad and the mango and sticky rice. I'm still on the hunt for...
Read moreThe food is pretty good. It’s not the same flavor profile as authentic Thai and Vietnamese cuisine but the closest I’ve had this far in Mexico. We got a lot of the appetizers. The Cha gio, under cooked and served with a sweet chili curry spicy sauce. The chicken skewers were pretty good but I didn’t like that they out the sauce on them already for you. They’re a little spicy. The samosas were my favorite appetizer. The crust is super flaky and delicious. The filling is well seasoned. I also got the bun Cha and it was the best thing I got. It’s served with a variety of vegetables and herbs with vermicelli noodles and again the undercooked Cha gio. The pork belly and pork patties are served in a rich broth.
Where this restaurant fell all the way short for me was the service. I’ve been in Mexico for 3 months now and this was by far the worst service I’ve experienced so far. I’m actually writing this while I’m waiting for someone to ask if we’re done or make contact, anything. Service is terrible. I’d probably just get take...
