Marea Restaurante de Mar — Restaurant in Mexico City

Is absolutely sad that we had such a terrible service. Even with reservation had to wait extra 35 minutes for table because the Staff seems to be struggling to catch up. Even with less than half restaurant seated when we finally sat we didn't get service right away either not even something to drink. That killed the mood again , then when I ordered the starters 2 tiraditos and a guacamole for 6 people they brought out 4 tostadas for all of us !?!? We had to ask 3 times to get more finally they came. We order sparkling water got flat water ordered 2 albondigas diner an a full empapelado got 4 tortillas again to get servers attention was a challenge we were literally maybe 6 or 7 tables left. Our visit was January 28th by 5:30. Sat by 6:15 or so there was no sign of Manager or host. We all loved the food but would be very hard that we can pass the lack of service and how disorganized...

OMG. By far the best upscale Mexican restaurant in the city. Not sure why they’re not Packed all the time except expats are going to the Italian & French places nearby.

They provide lovely service, week-versed on the menu and descriptions of all items. The volcano is a must. While totally full…. We ordered another. See pics. After siembre and meroma……. Marea is where I will come back. Thankfully we have a few more days to return. The owner (Lula) is so lovely and was available to chat when I had questions. We were surprised this place doesn't have a higher rating because we loved it! The food was really good - my favorite was the black ceviche and the blackened shrimp taco. The brisket volcano was also delicious. It all tasted fresh and each dish was different. Honestly everything we ordered was good! The servers were super attentive, checking in and clearing dishes away immediately. And the atmosphere was perfect - we sat outside on a quiet tree lined street but inside was really charming and cozy. We were surprised there wasn't more people there!...
