This place is located close to the Zocalo. Known for their Pozole, they also have other options such as Enchiladas, Arrachera, etc.
The Guacamole cost MXN100 (about $5USD) and served in a mocajete with some tortilla chips and chicharrones. It's a small appetizer to share.
The Enchiladas Suizas came with 3 chicken Enchiladas with a creamy salsa Verde sauce served with some refried black beans. Has a pretty good flavor that I can't find in the US.
The Pozole is served with either pork or chicken with the onions, lettuce, radish on the side so you can put as much as you want. The soup had a nice flavor and was not very salty so it was perfect. Definitely the right portion size and it was a little cold today in Mexico City so it hit the spot.
We also had a pitcher of natural lemonade, it wad kind of sour so we had to add our own sugar to it for it to be just right.
There were also several desserts and coffee and hot chocolate options that I did not try since I was full from the meal.
The restauraunt itself has some paintings and light fixtures as well as tables and booths. Also has a second floor upstairs with access via stairs. Servers were friendly and they accept Pesos and Credit Cards as well.
Total spent for the 2 meals, appetizer, and the pitcher of lemonade and a tip was 600MXN ($30 USD).
Definitely would recommend if you are in the...
Read moreI didn't have a good experience on this restaurant, before we went in we asked if they were serving a plate they were advertising and they said yes. Once we went inside we ordered what we asked before and then they said they didn't have that plate, I ordered a cup of coffee and the cup they served it had some dust residual on it I told the host and she said it was residuos of the coffee, but it wasn't. Finally we just wanted to pay the bill because my daughter order some mole enchiladas and the host said she didn't charge us for the coffee but it wasn't true because the total didn't match the value of the plate. About the flavor, it wasn't a flavor we will be back again, and prices aren't cheap. I think there are some better...
Read moreWe stumbled across this restaurant (POTZOLLCALLI) after visiting the Zocalo (the central square in Mexico City) and walking about 2 blocks. It doesn't look the best for interior decor and the servers do not know any English. But, the food is excellent!!! We ordered the Suizas Verdes Enchiladas, which appears bland in color, but had a wonderful flavor, very tasty. My favorite was the Chilanga. Which looks like a simple flour tortilla stuffed with simple meat. This is far from simple meat! The combination of steak, chorizo and Manchego cheese and who knows what else, creates this incredible flavor that you will no doubt enjoy to the last bite! The guacamole was very fresh, chunky and the best! I left stuffed...
