Buenas noches mis amigos. We had a lovely time here until we didn’t. The food was really good, don’t get me wrong. We ordered the wagyu queso fundido and the flavor was delish but it came cold so the queso was literally a chunk. Our drinks were really good so we started the night off great. Our meals were also delish but ordering was such a hassle. First they say a menu item was unavailable so we settled for another item. But another waiter came and told us they actually had the item. And here is the weird thing- ANOTHER waiter after that tried to get us to switch it. No thanks! So after we eat, we kiki, we take some pics, it was time to get the bill. Dun dun dun… We paid in pesos and we were ready to leave but our waiter came and decided to COUNT the money right in front of us… is this normal? Let me answer that for you, no it is not. And here is the crazy part - after he counted (three times might I add), he said “is this all for the tip?” Uh yes? But unfortunately he did not want to leave and we gave him extra and from his facial expression, he was not satisfied. For a professional place, this was really unprofessional. This was such a confusing interaction and unfortunately changed the trajectory of our last night here in CDMX. Also they charged us for a dessert we didn’t even pick because we were celebrating our friend’s birthday which was stated in our reservation. If you plan to visit this restaurant, be prepared to spend time here because we were here for 4 hours. Service was a little slow.

Subpar food & service at a supposedly upscale restaurant. The ingredient quality & environment hygiene is questionable, and the music level resembles that of a club. If you are aiming for a classy steakhouse, look elsewhere. The service was a major put off. The server was constantly trying to upsell - without any consideration whatsoever of how much we had already ordered. There was an insect in my glass of red wine 🍷 and the initial solution was to pour the wine into another glass to filter out the bug 🐜 after I have rejected that, they then got the sommelier to give me a new glass. In terms of food, we tried the roasted beetroot (decent), grilled octopus (mediocre), and japanese wagyu rib eye (utterly disappointing). This was probably the only time I have chosen not to finish a japanese wagyu dish because the flavor & texture tasted off. The marbling and flavor were nothing like the wagyu I have had in the past. They cooked it by the table side, but sadly no gimmick was going to salvage the poor flavor of that dish. The only memorable dish was the complimentary sauces. The service was slow, and at the end there were only two tipping options (15% or 20%), which in my opinion they hardly amounted to. The dining experience left such a bad taste that we had to go elsewhere to “cleanse our palate”. There are definitely more worthy steakhouses out there for your money & enjoyment.

My husband made the mistake of booking us Valentine’s Day dinner here because of the high ratings and rave reviews. Our reservation was for 8pm. We got there at 8:05 and there were about 50-60 at the reception with the same reservation time. We tried to check in the manager said ok waved us off. It was very strange. We waited another 5 minutes and I spoke to the receptionist and she informed us that she didn’t have our reservation. He showed it to her and it wasn’t until then that she said that while l we all had reservations, the restaurant didn’t receive any of them, hence the chaos. She finally took our name and added us to the list. Needless to say we were upset because we had to wake up early and needed to leave by a certain time. We waited what seems like forever and they called us to a table at 8:46. She brought us to the table and it wasn’t cleaned yet so they put us at the bar for another 10 minutes while they prepared it. We got to the table and didn’t get a menu for 10 mins. We were extremely thirsty so we ordered bottled water and didn’t get it for 30 mins. I ordered a glass of wine and didn’t get it for an hour and 10 minutes. We reminded our waited at least 10 times that we didn’t get our drinks and he never brought it. It wasn’t until we were so fed up that my husband got a manager that we got our drinks. When we ordered our food we were told it would take about 30 minutes and we were fine with that. It was an hour plus before we got our food and when I tell you it was probably the worst cut of steak we have both ever had I am not exaggerating! We ordered wagyu and other expensive cuts and it was so tough. This is all a shame because the place is beautiful but I will never return again. We gave them grace because it was Valentine’s Day and because of the computer glitch, but the service was beyond acceptable. It was sub par and not on brand for other high end restaurants in CDMX. They really ruined my wonderful...

Prime Steakhouse was the reservation I was most looking forward to, and overall, everything was very good. That said, my expectations were quite high given both the price point and its recognition as a former Top 100 Steakhouse in the world. While some of my comments may sound like nitpicking, I think they’re fair in this context.

The ambiance felt a little off. The room was brightly lit, with televisions looping images of cities like New York and Los Angeles, and the music was a mix of EDM and pop hits—including Michael Jackson. Personally, that combination didn’t match the refined atmosphere I’d expect from a restaurant of this caliber.

Service began on a rocky note. I explained to our server (with the help of translation) that we wanted to go slightly off-script by ordering a few appetizers and sharing a wagyu steak as part of that course. When I asked about the wagyu minimum, the server confirmed 150 grams, which I agreed to. However, confusion quickly set in—our server repeatedly pushed us to order salads and insisted the food wouldn’t be enough, despite my clarifying that this was just for starters and mains would follow. A manager then stepped in and corrected the minimum to 300 grams, which was frustrating after I’d just been told otherwise. At first, the manager also seemed unsure of what we were trying to do, repeating lines about “this is what we do here” and encouraging us to order more food.

To their credit, after this hiccup, the manager took a more active role and the service improved significantly. They made excellent recommendations for both wine and cocktails, and from that point forward, the experience felt warm, attentive, and professional.

As for the food, it lived up to the reputation. Every dish we had was executed at a very high level, and the quality of the steak was exactly what I’d expect from a...
