My wife and I entered and requested to sit outside on the terrace. We were pointed the way while the person "greeting us" turned aside to discussed something with another co-worker and left us there alone. So I guess we sat ourselves? We sat - no one else acknowledged our presence/gave us a menu/took our order for over quite sometime while sat there.
Following us, couple of cute girls walked in - they were ushered to their seats and given menus right away. So I sought out the waiter and asked for the menu. He brought us ONE menu (the two girl got one menu each), which we shared and used our translation app to figure out what we wanted (since no english menu was available). Meanwhile, the two girls got their order taken... while I had to flag down the waiter again to give our drink order. Ordered two Spatens. The server brought the beers and then walked away….
We sat there, drank our beers, waited for our dinner order to be taken--the server never came back! I could see him walk around and do things but never bothered to glance at me looking at him. I wasn't going to flag down the kid again--he seemed to be more concerned with the two cute girls and other things he seemed to busy himself with.
We finished our beers--still no one came to take our orders. I asked for the bill from a different server, left ZERO tip and walked out.
Also, the beer is way too expensive. The one they advertise for cheap on the window, they don't have. paten was 125 pesos!! Expensive beer with bad service...!! Doesn't...

A German desaster
We went today, a group of 6 and ordered the following 3 pretzel (took 25min to get them but they were huge and goid) 1 Wurstsalat (cold cuts in cubes, a bit of pickled cucumber, big chunks of onion, some unidentifiable cheese and a tiny bit of sweet mustard as dressing. I ordered extra oil, vinagre, salt and pepper but it was still not edible, all of us agreed) Käsespätzle ,should be home made pasta with cheese and fried onions, (the pasta was rubbery and hard as if cooked long time ago and stored uncovered, the cheese was bland and seemed like smiling cow type, 3 fried onion chips... We all said it's Disgusting) The Haxe arrived after 35min, was crunchy outside but dry inside. The kraut was extremely sweet, the consistency was good but they added sugar, yikes! It came with potato salad that was inedible. No pickles, no onions, no flavor and boring. It came with a slice of dark rye bread out of a bag. Nobody liked the salad.
The goulaschsuppe was a strange thing out of a blender, no chunks of meat and not flavorful.
The Currywurst was huge and good.
The Rindsruladen were ok but the mash was cold and not fresh, the red cabbage again terribly sweet.
The Fried tilapia took freaking 55 Minutes to be served! At least it was ok.
The french fries with cheese, ok.
The dessert, the apple strudel came hot with vanilla ice and whipped cream from a spray bottle. The strudel was extremely sweet, had barely any apples in it but tons of raisins, the dough rubbery, too thick and not crunchy.
We complained and got a 15% price reduction of the total but it was still not worth the money. We arrived at 12.30 and finally got the change of the bill at 3.45! One server was very high nosed and unfriendly, the other one very kind and polite but both far too slow. If it weren't for the great conversation and laughter we shared, this lunch would have been one of the worst I had in Merida so far.
PS. Btw, I know real German food, as part of my family is German and I grew up partially in Germany and Switzerland. So no...
Read moreI wish I could give this place 2.5 stars, but 2 will have to do. First, it was interesting to see a German restaurant in the middle of a capital Mexican city! The beer selection was great and they had some local craft beers available. The menu was also pretty varied with lots of traditional German food.
I tried the wurst sampler, which was alright... I would just get the Nurnberg wurst if I ever went back because that was the only one that was really good. Also, I would only get the mashed potatoes as the french fries and potato salad were average. We also tried the Jagerschnitzel, which was very overcooked, making it tough, and it didn't have much flavor.
The worst part about this restaurant was the service and the value. At over 500 pesos for dinner for two it was one of the most expensive places we have been in Mexico, and the food did not justify this price. The waiter, who didn't even share his name, only took our order and cleared our dishes-- not even checking on us once. Then when the receipt came, he had circled the suggested tip amount and kept saying "tip not included, tip not included" while I was pulling out money to pay. We are happy to tip for good food and service, but we will not be forced into it by a pushy waiter at a...
