One of our party is highly allergic to seafood. This restaurant had non-seafood options on the menu so we reserved a table. When we arrived and ordered drinks, we were informed that they were out of everything we tried to order. They had absolutely no meat options (steak by itself or for tacos, ground beef for anything including hamburgers..). The only things left were seafood options and one chicken mole dish. As we had already ordered drinks and couldn’t get out of it, we ordered the mole negro and a sampler appetizer. The mole was the worst mole we’ve ever tried in all of Mexico (even the US had better mole). After two bites, she couldn’t eat anymore, yet we still had to pay. The appetizer was also bad. It lacked flavor and what did have flavor was over cooked. We even tried to order potatoes but they were also out of those. All in all it was an extreme disappointment, and very slow service. The fish tacos ordered by two other members of our party were also cold...

We stepped into this little sanctuary after spending hours wandering the very busy markets. We were slightly exhausted. It is located just off the zocalo, which gives it a more peaceful vibe.

We were greeted by an amazingly friendly gentlemen named Pedro. He pulled out chairs, placed napkins in our lap and immediately directed us to the bathroom (very clean) so we could wash our hands. My Spanish is negligible, but his English is perfect so we had no problems communicating.

Because we weren’t really hungry, just in need of a quiet resting space, we ordered mineral water, and two Coronas. After perusing the menu, we decided to share the tempura shrimp taco plate. it was delicious and the shrimp were quite large.

The food and ambience were so wonderful that we ended staying longer, and ordering dessert, (the strawberry cake which was delicious) and a...

I went to casa Hidalgo with my 2 sisters based on the wonderful reviews. Unfortunately, our review isn't as positive. We ordered the hamburger, fettuccine and shrimp and the tempura shrimp tacos. The burger had many issues. Basically, it was not as described. Supposedly, it was ground steak with cheese, bacon and grilled onions. Sounds good, right? You would be mistaken. The meat had a lot of fillers, it was dry and over cooked. There was no bacon or cheese or grilled onions. The shrimp fettuccine was a bit better. The fettuccine tasted homemade, but the shrimp were not cooked through. We ate the fettuccine and left the shrimp. The tempura shrimp tacos looked good, but they were very greasy. Service was good! The space marvelous with a beautiful bathroom. We told the server about our issues with the food. Paid the bill and left. We...

Loved my experience at this restaurant. My partner and I came for breakfast. Real good coffee with milk, fresh pressed juices (orange, grapefruit, papaya and/or pineapple). Susana, our lovely server, gave us to start a platter of ice cream, small piece of chocolat, and a biscuit. My partner took the chicken enchiladas. I'm vegetarian and I took the chilaquiles with black bean mole. Susana suggested to add eggs on it for protein, which I did. It was lovely.
