Bar Loco — Restaurant in Playa del Carmen

We arrived to the club and sat down and no one came to take our order. I went to the bar and ordered a bucket of beer for my husband and I. While sitting at our table for over an hour the waiter comes over and sits two groups at our table. We were not finished with our beer yet but he took it upon himself to take our beer out of the bucket and take our ice bucket. Shortly after, another waiter came by and told us we had to leave because we ordered the bucket from the bar and not the waiter. We were told to go stand at the bar, where there is no seating, if we wanted to stay or we can leave. We paid our tab and advised the front bartender he was making us leave. Bar loco is a place to get good beer prices and listen to a good DJ but we will not be going back due to the way we were treated. My husband loves that place but if I can help it we will not be going back. Be careful where you sit because there is no sign saying if you sit on the tables that you have to order from the waiters or if you order from the bar and then you go sit at the tables that they cannot serve...

The place is very inexpensive but it is also very dirty. Beer is 20 Mexican pesos and tequila shots were around 60. There was a long line to get in and took aroun 1 hour and 30 min. The only reason why we waited was because we had some friends wanting for us inside. The door people prioritize people they know and everyone gets skipped if someone they know shows up. There is only 1 restroom that is shared by everyone, guys have to pee in front of the ladies and there are only 2 toilets for the whole place that are shared by guys and girls. What an amazing bar! Friendly vibes. A mix of locals and expats. Super cheap alcohol but they also have some premium spirits too. It is a great location and overlooks the main Street. There's a small smoking area but I appreciated the fact it was away from the rest of the seating area. If your lucky you will catch the electric violin guy who drops in for a few songs.
