I recently visited Bella Italia for the second time, with my first experience being through a Rappi food delivery. My initial impression of the restaurant was less than satisfactory, and unfortunately, my in-person visit did not improve my opinion.
When I arrived at Bella Italia, I was greeted by a seemingly friendly waiter. However, the interaction quickly soured when I inquired about chicken Parmesan. The waiter initially said they offered it, but then mentioned an additional charge for making it, despite it being pictured on the menu. This was quite confusing and felt a bit deceptive.
The service deteriorated further with the waiter's condescending remark about the restaurant not being a "US Italian restaurant." This comment was unnecessary and left a bad taste in my mouth.
Reflecting on my first experience, I had ordered Chicken Fettuccine Alfredo via delivery, and it arrived overcooked and clumped together. When I brought this up, the waiter claimed that their food isn't meant to be ordered out, which is ironic considering delivery seems to be a significant part of their business.
Overall, Bella Italia did not meet my expectations either time. The quality of the food and the dismissive attitude of the staff were disappointing. I would rate this establishment a 4/10 and would hesitate to recommend it to others based on my...
Read moreThis place was good for a bite to eat, literally just stopped in out of hunger frustration after three other choices did not work out, one not open yet, another other had grasshoppers, rabbit, octopus and cow tongue tacos on the menu, kinda threw my appetite so we left, the third was a high end steakhouse/grill which was not necessary and did not seem to fit in with the authentic Playa atmosphere where the food is much more reasonable priced. I really wanted to try the pizza but some of the reviews i read turned me away, however i did see someone's pizza and it looked ok, not sure how it tasted. ended up having the grilled chicken plate with potatoes and the fried chicken plate with mashed potatoes to play it safe. The chicken was thinly sliced on both plates, lightly fried on the fried plate. Seemed like it took a while for the food to come out being that the dining patio was small with only two or three other tables seated. The food was pretty good, I really wanted some type of chicken alfredo but didn't see it on the menu, that is Italian, right? If you are there for a few days, keep it on your list. There are quite a few Italian places here, not saying its the best but doable and you may be able to find better. BTW I did visit a high end Italian place later but was much happier...
Read moreMediocre flavourless food Not much to recommend here of the four dishes we ordered, two past, one fish and one Risotto the best I can say is they were served hot. Two of our guests have Celiac disease (gluten free) and they were able to have several options to choose from and we were advised they had. gluten free penne available, however not pizza options. Flavour wise all lacked seasoning and required us to do it with the salt and pepper provided. The Salmon and Asaparagu Risotto appeared to be made from tinned salmon while the rice was cooked the taste made even bland food seem good. This was beyond flavourless. As for the atmosphere as it is located on 10th Ave and is right on a busy corner and open to the elements there is a lot of street noise and fumes from all of the passing vehicles. This made for an unpleasant dinning experience and difficult to carry on any form of conversation. The service was fast in taking and bringing the food but it took multiple attempts over 20min to get a bill. They have a TripAdvisor Award of excellence but it must be for most flavourless food. Not...
