Restaurante Pizzería Casa Sofia 5ta Avenida — Restaurant in Playa del Carmen

We were pleased to see this new location right on 5th after having enjoyed an excellent dinner at the Playacar location 2 years ago. A big thank you to the owners for continuing with the vegan options and providing them on this location's menu as well, and even expanding the vegan choices. The vegan pasta sauce with vegetables is our favorite and we enjoyed eating here twice during our vacation to this area again. The vegan ravioli was excellent too. Good prices and good portions. The Jamaica drinks were also perfect (just the right flavor, not too sweet) and consistent on both visits.

This location is much smaller than Playacar but still has a good amount of tables to choose from, especially if you enjoy an earlier dinner, like us. The ambiance is nice. And the service was very good.

Bacon wrapped scallops were severely overcooked. Manager discounted the scallops 30%, also did offer to remake one or two, I ended up declining. Manager then brought two lemoncello shots in appreciation of my understanding before we left. Meatballs with spaghetti were occasionally with hard grizzle or other questionable parts. I upped my rating from 1 to 3 stars because of the managers efforts to make it good. He clearly cares and wanted to make things right. Wish I could give him 4 stars for the effort. The Casa Sophia in Tulum is quite quality and I believe this manager cares enough to give them another try another day. I hope to give them 4 stars when I visit again. We have Been There for Dinner. The food was good, the music Not really What i expect for an Italian Restaurant (Electronic Music like in a disco). The staff was friendly until we got the bill. We wanted to give about 15$ tip, apperantly Not enough if the waiter has His way. he pointed out to us that a 15 percent tip would be customary. when we insisted on our original tip of just under 10 percent, he added 100 pesos to the bill without consultation. unfortunately we noticed this too late. simply impossible. that leaves a very bad impression of the place after a...
